ORDINANCE 24-1593 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 30, EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT, ARTICLE I, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES TO UPDATE THE CODE AND TO ENSURE HARMONY WITH RECENT AMENDMENTS TO STATE LAW; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION, CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Casselberry desires to ensure that the citizens are protected in every respect during emergencies of every type and nature; and WHEREAS, the Florida Legislature recently amended the .State Emergency Management Act, as set forth in Chapter 252, Florida Statutes, which addresses threats posed by a pandemic or other public health emergencies; and WHEREAS, the government of the State of Florida has undertaken the role and responsibility to prepare torespondto natural, manmade and technological disasters through enhanced coordination, long-term planning and adequate funding; and WHEREAS, regarding county or municipal measures that address a purported emergency, the amendment significantly modified the authorized role of local governments notwithstanding their constitutional home rule powers; and WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to add provisions to the City Code to address emergencies; and WHEREAS, words with double underlined type shall constitute additions to the original text and strike through type shall constitute deletions to the original text, and asterisks (* * *) indicate that text shall remain unchanged from the language existing prior to adoption of this Ordinance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. AMENDMENT. Chapter 30, Emergency Management, Article I, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Casselberry, Florida, is hereby amended to read as follows: Ordinance No. 24-1593 Page 1
