RESOLUTION 24-3407 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE <br />ESTABLISHMENT OF AN ADOPT -A -SHORELINE PROGRAM; <br />PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Casselberry is committed to conserving and improving ecological <br />health and stability through the management of its surface waterbodies; and <br />WHEREAS, the City has declared an interest in establishing an Adopt -A -Shoreline <br />program to help protect various aspects of its waterbodies through the planting of Florida native <br />shoreline plants along City resident's shorelines; and <br />WHEREAS, the City understands the significance and importance of shoreline vegetation, <br />as it is a vital aspect and characteristic of a healthy freshwater lake ecosystem in Central Florida; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Florida native shoreline vegetation provides water quality benefits, erosion <br />control, habitat and food for wildlife, and aesthetic appeal; and <br />WHEREAS, through the installation of shoreline vegetation, the City will remain <br />committed to helping maintain the health and balance of its numerous surface waterbodies; and <br />WHEREAS, the City will encourage residents and business owners to plant Florida native <br />shoreline plant species along their lake shorelines; and <br />WHEREAS, the City will encourage the use of shoreline plants for educational purposes <br />for schools and the general public; and <br />WHEREAS, the City will help create more healthy lake ecosystems that can support <br />various wildlife species, improve water quality, protect against erosion, and improve overall <br />aesthetics of shorelines. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION I. The City Commission of the City of Casselberry hereby approves and <br />authorizes the Adopt -A -Shoreline Program, including the Adopt -A -Shoreline application attached <br />as Exhibit A. <br />SECTION II. CONFLICTS. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict with any <br />of the provisions of this Resolution are hereby repealed. <br />SECTION III. SEVERABILITY. If any Section or portion of a Section of this <br />Resolution proves to be invalid, unlawful, or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to invalidate or <br />impair the validity, force, or effect of any other Section or part of this Resolution. <br />
