Police Officers' and Firefighters' Pension Board <br />March 26, 1998 <br />Page 6 <br />Discussion of the General Employees' Pension Board Status <br />EMBREE: The next order of business on the Agenda is seating of the Board of Trustees for the <br />Police Officers' and Firefighters'. <br />McPHERSON: The firefighter is Garrett Wienckowski and J. C. Greene for the Police <br />Officers' and Firefighters' Board. Before we leave I have an oath that needs to be signed. This is <br />the beginning of their term. <br />EMBREE: We want to welcome Garrett and J.C. Greene to the Police Officers' and Firefighters' <br />Board and seat the ones for the General Employees' and they are.... <br />McPHERSON: Right now all we have is Earl McMullen, who will be here later, the other two <br />members (employees) who were elected opted out. We will be discussing that on Number 9 on the <br />Agenda. But presently there are only two members on the Board, Earl McMullen and Tom Embree. <br />MOSCHLER: Do we have enough people on the General Employees' side to conduct business <br />tonight. How many do we have to have. <br />McPHERSON: We have to have at least three. <br />EMBREE: The next item on the Agenda will take care of that; the election of the fifth member <br />to the board for Police Officers and Firefighters and <br />McPHERSON: If Mary is allowed to vote for herself on the General we can do that. <br />CHRISTIANSEN: Is she still on the Board, her term should have technically been up after <br />everyone else's term. <br />McPHERSON: Her term is up but she was the only person that applied for this Board, so if <br />the Board wants someone else, they could do it at this time or they can elect to reappoint Mary. <br />SCHLUCKEBIER: I think it's a different problem, which is you don't have a quorum on that <br />Board without Mary. The question is does her term continue until a successor is elected? <br />CHRISTIANSEN: She is the fifth person, which by definition her term has to start at some time <br />after the other four members, because what you are supposed to do is elect and appoint the other <br />four and then those people get together to select the fifth. <br />McPHERSON: That is what we did.
