Police Officers' and Firelighters' <br />Pension Board <br />June 11, 1996 <br />Page 2. <br />III. Approval of Pension Board Investments - Barnett Bank <br />MOTION: Mr. Earl McMullen moved to approve the <br />Investment Deport from Barnett Bank for period <br />April 1, 1996 - June 4, 1996 as submitted by <br />Jeffrey Dreier. Motion was seconded by Ms. Mary <br />Moschler. Motion carried unanimously by voice <br />vote. <br />IV. Appointment of Police Officers' and Firefighters' Pension Board AttoKpey <br />Mr. Scott Christiansen said firm, Christiansen & Lehner represents only Police <br />Officer, Firefighters and General Employee Pension Plans around the State, currently representing <br />over a hundred different pension plans. (50 - 60 cities). His firm was instrumental in the drafting <br />of changes that were made in 1986 to Chapters 175 and 185, Florida Statutes dealing with Police and <br />Firefighers and his partner speaks at numerous conferences around the State dealing with Pension <br />Boards. He said his firm would lake to represent the pension board on an ongoing basis, which <br />means attending the board meetings, keep the board updated on federal and state laws and ensure <br />the pension plans stay current and correct as well as other documents that would be addressed under <br />his presentation during the workshop. The firm' fees are based on $180 per hour plus travel. The <br />travel expenses can be coordinated with other cities they represent in the area to minimize expense. <br />MOTION: Mr. Earl McMullen moved to appoint the firm of <br />Christiansen and Dehner as the attorneys to <br />represent the Police Officer' and Firefighters' <br />Pension Board. Seconded by Ms. Mary Moschler. <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote. <br />V. Pension Fiduciary Liability for Board Members <br />Mr. Christiansen said on cursory review the policy presented for approval met the fiduciary <br />requirements but he asked that the board postpone this item to give him a chance to review the policy <br />and give specific recommendation. <br />MOTION: Mr. Earl McMullen moved to table the Pension <br />Fiduciary Liability Insurance until the next <br />meeting of the board to allow for review and <br />
