ORDINANCE NO. 95-846 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, LEVYING AND IMPOSING UPON ALL INSURERS NOW OR HEREAFTER ENGAGING IN OR CARRYING ON THE BUSINESS OF CASUALTY INSURANCE AN EXCISE TAX, IN ADDITION TO ANY TAX NOW LEVIED, OF 0.85% OF THE GROSS AMOUNT OF RECEIPTS OF ALL PREMIUMS COLLECTED ON CASUALTY INSURANCE POLICIES INSURING PROPERTY WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF CITY OF CASSELBERRY; PROVIDING WHEN SAID TAX SHALL BE DUE AND PAYABLE; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Florida, by Chapter 185, Florida Statutes, created a special fund known as the "Police Officers' Pension Trust Fund" and thereby authorized municipalities falling within the purview of said Act to levy a tax upon certain insurance companies, corporations, or other insurers now engaged in or carrying on, or who shall hereinafter engage in or carry on, the business of casualty insurance as designated in said Act. The said proceeds from said tax to be used in partial support of the "Police Officers' Pension Fund"; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Commission of the City of Casselberry, Florida, to put into full force and effect the provisions of said Chapter 185. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. That there is hereby assessed, imposed, and levied on every insurance company, corporation, or other insurer now engaging in or carrying on, or which shall hereafter engage in or carry on the business of casualty insurance, as shown by the records of the Department of Insurance, an excise tax in addition to any lawful license or excise tax now levied by the City of Casselberry, Florida, amounting to 0.85 % of the gross amount of receipts
