Notice is hereby given that the City Commission will conduct a public hearing to consider adoption of an annual rate resolution approving the rate of the street lighting assessment for the fiscal year commencing October 1, 2023 ("Fiscal Year 2023-24"). The hearing will be held at 5:30 p.m., or soon thereafter, on August 28, 2023, in City Commission Chambers of City Hall, 95 Triplet Lake Drive, Casselberry, Florida 32707. All affected property owners have a right to appear at the hearing and to file written objections with the City Commission n i iijsioi i vvithiiii twenty (2�) days of this notice. This is not a new assessment ie� it prograi � : the street lighting assessment has been imposed and collected each year since 2009. Street lighting assessments are based upon the total number of "equivalent residential units" or "ERUs" attributable to each parcel. The City has determined that the size of the average single family residential parcel in the City is .26 acres, which is the value of one ERU, the unit of measurement to be applied against each parcel to determine the assessment. Single family residential parcels consisting of one dwelling unit, including individual residential condominium units, shall each be attributed one ERU. For all other parcels, the number of ERUs is calculated individually for each parcel of property by dividing the total size of the parcel in acres by .26 acres, with a minimum of one (1) ERU attributed to each parcel. A more specific description of the street lighting services and the method of computing the assessment for each parcel of property are set forth in Resolution 23- 3357 (the "Preliminary Rate Resolution") adopted by the City Commission on July 24, 2023. The annual street lighting assessment rate for Fiscal Year 2023-24 will be $42.86 per ERU. The maximum street lighting service assessment rate that can be imposed without further mailed notice for fiscal years thereafter is $54.71 per ERU. It is estimated that the City will collect $520,000 from the street lighting assessments for Fiscal Year 2023-24.
