RESOLUTION 23-2580 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE CASSELBERRY POLICE FOUNDATION, INC., AN INDEPENDENT NOT FOR PROFIT ORGANIZATION WITH A MISSION TO SUPPORT THE TRAINING, EDUCATION AND PURCHASE OF EQUIPMENT FOR THE CASSELBERRY POLICE DEPARTMENT IN ORDER TO ENHANCE PUBLIC SAFETY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Casselberry Police Foundation, Inc., (the "Foundation") is a Florida Not For Profit Corporation formed in 2021, organized by citizens and businesses to bring together charitable donors, community leaders, and other stakeholders who support law enforcement and encourage non - tax based philanthropic efforts for the benefit of the Casselberry Police Department to keep the City safe and support the police officers who work tirelessly to protect the City; and WHEREAS, the Foundation is an entity wholly separate and independent from the City of Casselberry, and is managed by a volunteer "Foundation Board," members of which are appointed or elected as provided for in the Foundation's Bylaws; and WHEREAS, the Foundation is organized and operated exclusively for charitable or other specified purposes and meets certain other requirements and is thereby tax exempt under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) with no paid employees; and WHEREAS, the mission of the Foundation is to seek, perpetuate and grow the Foundation principal fund whose earnings and principal are used exclusively to provide aid to police officers to enhance public safety and community engagement through training, education, and purchase of equipment; and WHEREAS, in all instances, the income and principal of any gift, grant, devise, bequest, or donation to the Foundation shall be used and applied in accordance with the mission of the Foundation. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the City Commission of the City of Casselberry hereby acknowledges and expresses its support for the Casselberry Police Foundation, Inc., and its mission to provide aid to the City's police officers to enhance public safety and community engagement through training, education, and purchase of equipment for the Casselberry Police Department. SECTION 2. Conflicts. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict with any of the provisions of this Resolution are hereby repealed.
