Law Enforcement Canine Program administered within Seminole County Public Schools <br />Nvhich includes oversigl t. in the areas of'selection requirements, training. curriculum. the provision <br />of services., and compliance with minimurn training requirements; and <br />WHEREAS. the CITY and the. SCHOOL 130AIZD are authorized to enter into inter -local <br />agreements for tlhe provision of services and to provide for cost-sharino between CITE' and <br />SCA 1001, BOARD to provide funding for services. and <br />TET REFORE, in consideration of the mutual understandings and agreements set forth <br />herein. die CLhY and SC1100L BOARD agree as follows: <br />1. Term and Termination <br />a. The 1'J>R�I of this -Agreement shall be from July 1, 2022 until June 30, 2023, the <br />date of signatures by the parties notwithstanding, and subject to annual appropriation by <br />both parties. <br />b. ":Chis Agreement may be terminated by either party; with or without. cause, by <br />providing thirty (30) days written notification in advance to the other party. In the event <br />of termination, payment for services will be prorated to coincide with the date of <br />termination. <br />2. Purpose <br />a. The purpose of this Agreement is to provide compliance requirements consistent <br />with Section 1006.12 Florida Statute and to provide for the protection and. safety of school <br />personnel, property, students, and visitors. It is also the purpose of this Agreement to foster <br />better .relations between students and law enforcement personnel, to deter crime on or <br />about school premises by the presence of a law enforcement SRO, to enforce local, state, <br />and federal laws, and to have law enforcement SROs available for presentations to <br />students, faculty and parents concerning law enforcement, school safety and related law <br />enforcement subjects. This Agreement also provides for the operation and funding of <br />Project. You(th) which is a curriculum developed for K-12 students in Seminole County <br />Schools. <br />b. To enhance existing school safety initiatives in existence between the SCHOOL <br />BOARD and county and municipal law enforcement participants in the School Resource <br />Program and Project You(th) and establish uniformity through the direction of the School <br />Safety & Security Director so that effective crisis preparedness and uniform response to <br />threats to student safety, both real and threatened, within the school environment are <br />addressed. <br />2 <br />
