City of Casselberry
FDEP SRF Loan Application
Part II A (1) — Planning or Design Project Activities/Description
ATTACHMENT 2
The City has approximately 16,000 aging meters covering 220 miles of water
mains. The meters are past their life expectancy and are failing at a fast rate. The
City desires to hire an engineer who can assist with design and implementation of
a pilot study in order to determine vendor selection, the types of meters to use,
compatibility with the existing billing software and other feasibility issues. The
engineer will assist with determining where the pilot study should take place and
how many utility accounts should be tested as a representative sample of the
entire utility system.
The City desires to encourage conservation of water resources by providing
customers with real-time information on consumption. This will also assist in a
reduction in leaks by assisting the customers with more immediate notifications
and for identification of water leaks in the utility system.
