RESOLUTION 10-2117 "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A FOREST HEALTH IMPROVEMENT INITIATIVE GRANT APPLICATION TO CONDUCT A TREE PLANTING PROJECT, AND APPROVAL TO EXECUTE A GRANT MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT IF AWARDED SUCH GRANT; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY AND EFFECTIVE DATE." WHEREAS, trees are an important part of our community as they improve water and air quality, improve community aesthetics, and increase employment opportunities; and WHEREAS, the City of Casselberry has been designated a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation for a third consecutive year; and WHEREAS, the City of Casselberry desires to apply for the Forest Health Improvement Initiative Grant Program to fund a tree planting project for Wirz Trail Section II; and WHEREAS, the City of Casselberry acknowledges and plans to uphold the philosophy of "Right Tree/Right Place" in selecting tree species and suitable planting locations throughout the project; and WHEREAS, the City of Casselberry acknowledges that if awarded the Forest Health Improvement Initiative Grant, the City will execute a Grant Memorandum of Agreement with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The City Commission of the City of Casselberry hereby approves the Forest Health Improvement Initiative Grant application for submittal and, if awarded the grant, authorizes approval of the Grant Memorandum of Agreement for the purpose of planting trees along Wirz Trail Section Il, and authorizes the Mayor to execute said document on behalf of the City. SECTION II. Conflicts. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict with any of the provisions of this Resolution are hereby repealed. SECTION M. Severability. If any Section or portion of a Section of this Resolution proves to be invalid, unlawful, or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to invalidate or impair the validity, force, or effect of any other Section or part of this Resolution.
