RESOLUTION 22-3319 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE JOINT <br />SUBMITTAL OF A SAFE STREETS AND ROADS FOR ALL <br />REGIONAL PLANNING GRANT PROPOSAL TO THE U.S. <br />DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION IN CONJUNCTION <br />WITH METROPLAN ORLANDO TO ASSIST WITH FUNDING <br />THE CREATION OF A LOCALIZED COMPREHENSIVE <br />SAFETY ACTION PLAN; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, <br />SEVERABILITY, AND EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Casselberry's adopted Multimodal Transportation <br />Master Plan and Healthy Community Complete Streets Policy vision is to provide a safe, <br />economically viable, equitable, and connected multimodal transportation network; and <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of the Safe Streets and Roads for All program is to help <br />communities invest in meaningful Safe System strategies to improve roadway safety by <br />significantly reducing or eliminating roadway fatalities and serious injuries through <br />Safety Action Plan development and implementation; and <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of a localized Safety Action Plan, which is the <br />foundation of the Safe Streets and Roads for All grant program, is to identify high -injury <br />locations, prioritize projects based on safety needs, address underserved populations, <br />engage stakeholders, and pivot to a Safe System approach to roadway safety that <br />addresses all users; and <br />WHEREAS, through its "Safe Streets and Roads for All" website, the U.S. <br />Department of Transportation allows for multijurisdictional Action Plan grant <br />applications to be considered; and <br />WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Transportation may appropriate funding to <br />assist with the development of a localized Safety Action Plan through the Safe Streets <br />and Roads for All Program during Fiscal Year 2023. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION <br />OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION I. The City Commission hereby approves joint submittal of a regional <br />planning grant application in conjunction with MetroPlan Orlando to the U.S. <br />Department of Transportation for Fiscal Year 2023 to provide financial assistance for the <br />development of a localized Safety Action Plan under a regional Comprehensive Vision <br />Zero Safety Action Plan, with the total proposed relative share for the City of Casselberry <br />not to exceed $150,000, inclusive of a proposed local match of 20%, not to exceed <br />$30,000, and authorizes the City Manager to submit a letter of support to MetroPlan <br />Orlando on behalf of the City of Casselberry committing to a joint submittal with a local <br />20% match not to exceed $30,000. <br />
