City of Casselberry <br />Parks & Recreation Advisory Board <br />PRAB Meeting—August 13, 2019 <br />NPRA "10 — Minute Walk" Campaign <br />Ms. Moore introduced the "10 — Minute Walk" Campaign; a national campaign with a goal of ensuring <br />every resident in Casselberry has a safe, comfortable 10 -minute walk to a park by the year 2050. <br />Joining the campaign had been approved by the City Commission. Deputy Public Works Director/City <br />Engineer Dr. Kelly Brock had applied for a grant to support the endeavors of this campaign. <br />6. Staff Report <br />• Recreation Manager Linda Moore briefly discussed ongoing park improvement and gave <br />updates on maintenance and improvements of the parks. <br />Lake Concord Park — A new metal roof was installed by United Roofing on the Art House and requires <br />less maintenance than the old roof. It is a medium bronze color. <br />Rotary Park and Sunnytown Park — Landscaping was upgraded in Rotary Park and Sunnytown Park. <br />Casselberry Greenway "Carriage Hill" Trail Connector —A bronze plaque was added to the middle <br />landscape boulder and flowers will be planted to further enhance the area. <br />Hooker Cemetery on Plumosa Ave. — New sod and landscaping elements were installed. <br />• Ms. Moore informed the Board of upcoming events. <br />Runyak and Silksational! Casselberry Art House exhibit reception was August 17. <br />September events included the Casselberry Chamber and Business Expo and the City's Art & Music in <br />the Park & The Food Truck Bazaar, the Track Shack Battle of the Bands, the annual Swing "Fore" the <br />Arts Golf Tournament held at the Casselberry Golf Club September 27 and Casselberry's Latin Jazz & <br />Art Festival on September 28. <br />October events discussed were the Art & Music in the Park & The Food Truck Bazaar and iLLuminArt & <br />Sculpture Walk Event on October 11, October Country Jam featuring Adam Wakefield on October 12, <br />and Franklin's Friends Howl -O -Ween event and Spooktoberfest on October 26. The Casselberry Art <br />House would have an exhibit by the Florida Sculptures Guild during this time. <br />November events were Hook Kids on Fishing event on November 2, the Casselberry Chamber of <br />Commerce Food & Wine Fest on November 4, and the Art & Music in the Park & The Food Truck Bazaar <br />on November 8. Ms. Moore discussed the Craft Beers & Blues event on November 16 and 17 and said <br />the Rotary Calendar Exhibit would take place at the Casselberry Art House with free calendars <br />available. <br />
