City of Casselberry Parks & Recreation Advisory Board PRAB Meeting—August 13, 2019 NPRA "10 — Minute Walk" Campaign Ms. Moore introduced the "10 — Minute Walk" Campaign; a national campaign with a goal of ensuring every resident in Casselberry has a safe, comfortable 10 -minute walk to a park by the year 2050. Joining the campaign had been approved by the City Commission. Deputy Public Works Director/City Engineer Dr. Kelly Brock had applied for a grant to support the endeavors of this campaign. 6. Staff Report • Recreation Manager Linda Moore briefly discussed ongoing park improvement and gave updates on maintenance and improvements of the parks. Lake Concord Park — A new metal roof was installed by United Roofing on the Art House and requires less maintenance than the old roof. It is a medium bronze color. Rotary Park and Sunnytown Park — Landscaping was upgraded in Rotary Park and Sunnytown Park. Casselberry Greenway "Carriage Hill" Trail Connector —A bronze plaque was added to the middle landscape boulder and flowers will be planted to further enhance the area. Hooker Cemetery on Plumosa Ave. — New sod and landscaping elements were installed. • Ms. Moore informed the Board of upcoming events. Runyak and Silksational! Casselberry Art House exhibit reception was August 17. September events included the Casselberry Chamber and Business Expo and the City's Art & Music in the Park & The Food Truck Bazaar, the Track Shack Battle of the Bands, the annual Swing "Fore" the Arts Golf Tournament held at the Casselberry Golf Club September 27 and Casselberry's Latin Jazz & Art Festival on September 28. October events discussed were the Art & Music in the Park & The Food Truck Bazaar and iLLuminArt & Sculpture Walk Event on October 11, October Country Jam featuring Adam Wakefield on October 12, and Franklin's Friends Howl -O -Ween event and Spooktoberfest on October 26. The Casselberry Art House would have an exhibit by the Florida Sculptures Guild during this time. November events were Hook Kids on Fishing event on November 2, the Casselberry Chamber of Commerce Food & Wine Fest on November 4, and the Art & Music in the Park & The Food Truck Bazaar on November 8. Ms. Moore discussed the Craft Beers & Blues event on November 16 and 17 and said the Rotary Calendar Exhibit would take place at the Casselberry Art House with free calendars available.
