City of Casselberry <br />Parks and Recreation Advisory Board <br />Regular Meeting — March 16, 2022 <br />Dean Fathelbab, Healthy Community Manager, presented the Wirz Park Improvements 30% <br />Plans and introduced members of the consultant team. Upon conclusion of his presentation, <br />Mr. Fathelbab opened the floor for comments and questions from the Board members. <br />Board member Buffy Werle questioned why the current facilities were needing such a major <br />overall and why certain elements of the current facility had to.be excluded from the new plans. <br />Board member Nick Santiago expressed concern with doing away with all baseball fields and <br />questioned if the multi -use field could incorporate baseball somehow. Board member Buffy <br />Werle concurred. <br />After Board member discussion, Board Chair Katy Farmer opened the floor for comments from <br />the public. <br />Jillian Kerr, 121 Mark David Blvd., Casselberry, shared their family has used the facility for <br />many years and the baseball fields are always busy, thus needed. <br />Robert Kerr, 121 Mark David Blvd., Casselberry, shared the baseball fields are utilized often <br />and that the basketball courts are not and expressed concern over past player conduct at the <br />courts. <br />Karen Hulbert, 410 Iris Road, Casselberry, questioned the need for beach volleyball and <br />basketball facilities over the need for baseball. <br />Richard Henderson, 127 Mark David Blvd., Casselberry, states he has lived here for 40 years <br />and the park has always been a community park and the baseball fields are very important to it. <br />Mr. Fathekbab requested the Board make a recommendation to the City Commission regarding <br />the Wirz Park Improvements 30% Plans. <br />6. Motion Recommendation of Wirz Park Improvements <br />Board Member Nick Santiago made a motion to provide a favorable recommendation of the <br />Wirz Park Improvements — 30% Plans to the City Commission with the provision of <br />recommending incorporating baseball into the multi-purpose field. Motion was seconded by <br />Board Member Buffy Werle. Motion carried unanimously 2-0. <br />7. Staff Reports <br />
