TASK 1 — Part-time Construction Field Representative Services
1. The ENGINEER shall provide Construction Field Representative Services during the
construction contract and schedule. The project includes the construction of three
stormwater baffle boxes and five inlet inserts. This scope of service includes
provisions for part-time observation of work for compliance with Plans and
Specifications on more or less a continuing basis as construction proceeds;
notification of the Contractor of non-compliance; observation of materials at their
source or in the job site; and provide a record of the Contractor's activities
throughout the construction, including notations on the nature and cost of any extra
work or changes ordered during construction; however, the ENGINEER is not
responsible for the performance of the construction contract by the Contractor. The
ENGINEER will provide a Construction Field Representative (CFR) to observe the
Contractor's work during the execution of the Construction Contract on a part-time
basis.
2. Through the on-site observations of the work including progress and field checks of
material and equipment by the CFR, the ENGINEER will endeavor to provide
protection for the OWNER against defects and deficiencies in the work, but the
furnishing of such resident project representation shall not make the ENGINEER
responsible to find or note all discrepancies in the work nor for the Contractor's
failure to perform the construction work in accordance with the Contract Documents.
3. The ENGINEER and CFR shall not be responsible for the acts or omissions of the
Contractor nor of any of the Contractor's, Sub -Contractors, Agents, Employees, or
other persons performing any of the work under the construction contract, or of
others.
4. The CFR will assist the OWNER in issuing all instructions to the Contractor and
assist in the preparation of routine Change Orders as may be required. The CFR
may, as a designated project representative by the OWNER, require special
inspection or testing of the work (whether or not fabricated, installed or completed).
The CFR will coordinate with the OWNER to respond to RFI's from the Contractor.
5. The CFR will conduct bi-weekly meetings throughout the duration of the project. The
project duration is anticipated to be 27 weeks, but the actual active construction
period will be 25 weeks. The meetings are anticipated to last for approximately one
hour each.
