City of Casselberry <br />Parks and Recreation Advisory Board <br />Regular Meeting—June 8, 2021 <br />and staff comments. Mr. Fathelbab noted that staff preferred Option 1 for various finishings and <br />flooring, mentioned the planned relocation of a mature tree at the entrance, and added that staff <br />and consultants were exploring cost saving measures. At the conclusion of the presentation, <br />Board Members asked questions and pursued discussion regarding the benefits and challenges <br />of an open versus closed ceiling structure. Daryl LeBlanc, Stantec Architecture answered <br />questions about energy efficiency of the open and closed ceiling options. <br />Motion by Vice Chairwoman Farmer to recommend to the City Commission approval of the <br />30% plans for Lake Concord Park Art House Expansion with cost reduction recommendations <br />from staff. Seconded by Board Member Nash. Motion carried unanimously 3-0. <br />Staff Report <br />a) Parks Improvements and Updates <br />Ms. Linda Moore, Recreation Manager, reviewed park improvements. The Lake Concord Park <br />Sculpture House had ADA compliant sidewalks installed and is close to being ready for its public <br />opening. Lighthouse of Central Florida was assisting with ensuring the accessibility of the <br />Sculpture House. New playground equipment was installed at Lake Hodge Park, as well as <br />replacement and repaid of the dock/boardwalk at Lake Hodge Park. Ms. Moore also provided a <br />summary update of the parks construction projects and informed the Board that the Commission <br />would be doting on the purchase of the Brightwater Estate for use as a future park. <br />b) Recreation Updates <br />Ms. Moore began with a recap of events including Walk Florida, Arbor Day Tree Giveaway, the <br />Rock n' Blues Concert and Car Show, and Seminole County COVID-19 mobile vaccine drives. <br />Upcoming events Ms. Moore notified the Board of were the June Food Truck Friday event, Camp <br />Casselberry, Summer Art Academy, and the Wirz Park Pool season. Other recreation activities <br />reported were recreation classes and kayak rentals. Lastly, exhibits at the Casselberry Art House <br />were announced; "Best of the Seniors, Students, and Instructors of the Art House Exhibit", May <br />7-28, and "Pastel Society of Central Florida - Living Waters and the Florida Landscape", June 4- <br />30. <br />7. Board Member Report <br />Vice Chairwoman Farmer expressed her excitement for the Lake Concord Park Art House <br />Expansion. <br />Chairwoman Icenhower reflected on the event and progress of the parks construction projects. <br />
