City of Casselberry <br />Parks & Recreation Advisory Board <br />Regular Meeting — February 11, 2020 <br />6. Staff Report <br />a) Parks Update <br />Ms. Linda Moore, Recreation Manager, began with an update on the Memorial Bench program. <br />She continued with updates on Lake Concord Park and provided information about work on the <br />"Sculpture House". Ms. Moore also discussed the improvements at Wirz Park and Secret Lake <br />Park including the installation of playground equipment and work on the Recreation Center's <br />ballroom floor. <br />b) Events Update <br />Ms. Moore reviewed the events for February and March. She provided additional information on <br />the art exhibit, Tribute to the Masters: Gone but Not Forgotten, and the upcoming Mardi Gras <br />Music Festival. Additional events discussed were Art and Music and the Food Truck Bazaar, the <br />Seminole County AP Underclassmen Exhibit — "2020", Spring Jazz and Art Festival, and the <br />Experience Contemporary art exhibit. <br />Regarding the Recreation Center, Ms. Moore informed the Board of The AARP Foundation Tax - <br />Aide Program and the new class offering, Cuban Dance. <br />c) Update on Parks Bond Referendum 2020 <br />Ms. Moore announced that the website had been launched. Ms. Moore also provided the open <br />house meetings schedule and indicated Dr. Kelly Brock, Deputy Public Works Director/City <br />Engineer, would be present at the meetings to answer questions. Informational materials were <br />available. <br />7. Board Member Reports: <br />Vice Chairman Courtney Icenhower welcomed Edmund Bakalla. She then inquired about the <br />construction netting on parts of the equipment at Secret Lake Park. Ms. Moore explained that <br />repairs to the equipment were in progress. Board Member Icenhower mentioned Friends of the <br />Park was looking for location suggestions for a new dog station. <br />Board Member Katy Farmer thanked the Art House for hosting the Seminole County AP <br />Underclassmen Exhibit — "2020". She remarked that there was a great turnout for the reception. <br />Board Member Dana Callan commented that the City and Board are doing awesome work. <br />
