City of Casselberry <br />Parks & Recreation Advisory Board <br />Regular Meeting — October 8, 2019 <br />Ms. Moore continued with details about the Halloween Spooktoberfest event from 5-8 <br />p.m. on Saturday, October 26th, and mentioned that November's Art & Music in the <br />Park and The Food Truck Bazaar would feature the Trees of Life band. <br />Then Ms. Moore spoke about the Craft Beers & Blues festival; a two-day festival on <br />Saturday, November 16th and Sunday, November 17th, from 4-9 p.m. Orange Blossom <br />Blues Society was a partner for the event and would be selling a variety of craft beer. <br />Upcoming non -City events discussed were: the Halloween dog parade and K-9 costume <br />contest hosted by Franklin's Friends on October 26th and the Food & Wine Festival <br />hosted by the Casselberry Chamber of Commerce on November 4th; at the Recreation <br />Center, a free health event focused on elderly health and education on October 18th <br />from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and the Senior Fall Dance from 5-8 p.m.; Hook Kids on <br />Fishing, a free fishing event for kids. <br />Ms. Moore continued with arts and culture, the "EI Arte Eleva" Latin Art Exhibit would <br />be ongoing through November 21st. She recapped the Employee Exhibit, stating there <br />were 24 submissions and the art work would go to Seminole County Administration as a <br />part of the National Arts Program. IVIS. Moore reiterated the iLLuminART event and <br />"Best Of" show by the Florida Sculptors Guild at the Art House. No questions followed. <br />6. Staff Report <br />As the holiday season approached, Ms. Moore wanted to bring to the Board's attention <br />the "Deck the Halls" event, sponsored by New Hope for Kids. <br />Dr. Brock announced that staff submitted Lake Concord Park for American Planning <br />Association (APA) Florida Chapter's "Great Places" contest and it was one of six finalists <br />in the state. Voting closed October 18th. <br />7. Board Member Reports: <br />Board Member Dana Callan said he is very proud of events and activities that are being <br />provided by and for the City. <br />Board Member Kinsey Lallathin reported that she promoted upcoming events in her <br />neighborhood, on social media, and at her office. Additional comments followed. Board <br />Member Lallathin also said she was interested in volunteering in December. <br />
