CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of June 28, 2021 — Regular Meeting
Page 12 of 13
17. CITY COMMISSIONERS' REPORTS/COMMENTS
Commissioner Anthony Aramendia - Seat No. 1:
• Advised that he has been seeking possible alternate funding for the Brightwater renovation
project.
• Recently worked with volunteers to collect items that may be of historical interest from
Brightwater, including plot maps, photographs, etc., and facilitated the transfer of those items
to the Seminole County Historical Museum as a donation from the Casselberry family.
Commissioner Andrew Meadows — Seat No. 2:
Commended Commissioner Aramendia for his efforts to obtain appropriation of funds for
Brightwater, noting that he was excited about the possibility of getting funding from other
sources. He agreed that it was worth the effort to try and complete the visioning of the project
quickly to see if the City could make the alternative funding happen.
Inquired of Mr. Newlon whether staff was still on track to bring information regarding
livestreaming to the City Commission in August. Mr. Newlon advised that he would bring
something to the City Commission when he was confident he had enough information to
present, but his objective was August or September.
Vice Mayor Mark Busch - Seat No. 3:
Also thanked Commissioner Aramendia for his efforts in seeking funding for the Brightwater
renovations.
Advised that he had acted as executor for the Estate of Tony Tizzio and probate of the estate
had now been completed. He added that Mr. Tizzio had made provision in his Will for a
donation to the City of Casselberry to be used for the purpose of providing some type of
amenity that would be accessible to people with disabilities, as having cerebral palsy himself,
he was a lifetime advocate for those with disabilities. Vice Mayor Busch stated he had a check
with him payable to the City of Casselberry, which he presented to City Clerk Donna Gardner
for proper processing. Ms. Gardner thanked him and advised that a Consent Agenda item
would be added to the July regular meeting to recognize the donation from Mr. Tizzio's Estate.
In response to a question from Mr. Newlon, Vice Mayor Busch advised that the Will had not
stated specifically how the funds were to be used, but Mr. Tizzio had expressed verbally to
both he and Mr. Newlon at various times that he would like it to be used for something that
others with disabilities could enjoy, and he most likely had some type of accessible park
amenity in mind.
Mayor Henson — Seat No. 5:
No report.
