CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of January 25, 2021 — Regular Meeting
Page 13 of 15
Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board consists of five (5) members and one (1) alternate who serve
two-year terms. Ms. Gardner advised that there were currently no reappointments to consider, but there
were two regular member vacancies to consider as Ms. Melissa Holmes and Mr. Dana Callan did not seek
reappointment. She also advised that the alternate member position had been vacant since Mr. Ed Bakalla's
appointment to the Planning and Zoning Commission in September 2020. Four applicants had been
submitted for the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board; however, Ms. Laura Hatton had been reappointed
to the Lakes Management Advisory Board and Ms. Terri Adams had also been appointed to the Lakes
Management Advisory Board, so only two applicants remained for appointment to the Parks and Recreation
Advisory, those being Ms. Dorothy "Dia" Nordstrom and Mr. Nick Santiago. In response to a question
from Mayor Henson, Ms. Gardner advised that the requirement for an alternate to this board had been added
to the City's Code in the past two years, and she recommended that the City Commission fill the two regular
member positions and she would continue to recruit for other applicants and bring any applications for the
alternate position to the City Commission for consideration when received.
MOTION: Commissioner Meadows moved to appoint Ms. Dorothy "Dia" Nordstrom
and Mr. Nick Santiago as regular members to the Parks and Recreation
Advisory Board, each for a first full term, both terms effective to January 31,
2023. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Aramendia. Motion carried
unanimously by voice vote 5-0.
13. CITIZENS' COMMENTS
Mayor Henson announced persons that wished to make comment or make inquiry on any matter not on the
agenda, may request to be recognized during Citizens' Comments. Mayor Henson announced the rules of
decorum. The following individual came forward:
1. Ms. Lindsay Feist, 516 Bridle Path, thanked Commissioner Albritton for joining Casselberry
Elementary PTSA and stated she had also emailed a link to each of the other Commissioners
and encouraged them to join as well to show support for the school, the teachers, the kids and
the community as a whole.
No one else came forward.
14. CITY MANAGER'S REPORT
A. Procurement Information Report for the Period December 1, 2020 through
December 31, 2020
Mr. Newlon advised that the Procurement Information Report for the month of December 2020 was
contained in the Commissioners' agenda packets for review. He noted that the report contained information
about minor contracts that were issued under delegated authority of staff during this period.
