CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of September 14, 2020 — Regular Meeting
Page 7 of 14
Audience Participation: No one came forward to address the Consent Agenda.
MOTION: Commissioner Busch moved
Motion was seconded by
unanimously by voice vote 5-0.
8. DISCUSSION ITEMS
A. Future Agenda Items
to approve the Consent Agenda, as presented.
Commissioner Aramendia. Motion carried
Mayor Henson brought up three suggestions for policy/procedural changes for Commission consideration,
as follows:
1. Suggested changing the regular City Commission meeting time to 5:30 p.m., or no later than
6:00 p.m. After a brief discussion the City Commission agreed by consensus to change the
regular City Commission meeting time to 5:30 p.m. The City Clerk and the City Attorney
clarified that a resolution amending the City Commission agenda and meeting policies to reflect
the new regular meeting time was needed and would be brought back for consideration at the
next regular meeting.
2. Suggested membership in the Florida City and County Manager's Association (FCCMA) for
City Manager Newlon. After discussion, the City Commission agreed by consensus that they
were in support of this, as it was felt it would benefit both the City and Mr. Newlon.
3. Inquired whether Board Policy could be amended to allow an alternate to immediately fill a
vacated position. City Clerk Donna Gardner explained that the current Board Policy was that
the City Commission would consider the alternate first for appointment to a vacant position,
but it was not automatic. After discussion, the City Commission agreed by consensus that the
Board Policy regarding the filling of vacancies should remain in place as it currently exists.
No other items were brought up for consideration.
9. RESOLUTIONS
No items were presented for consideration on this agenda.
10. FIRST READING OF ORDINANCES
No items were presented for consideration on this agenda.
