CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of April 27, 2020 — Regular Meeting
Page 13 of 14
Mr. Newlon requested guidance whether to re-submit the original offer of $1.2 million, or
pursue a different option. After a brief discussion focusing on the current economic uncertainty
due to the global pandemic, the City Commission agreed as a whole that the most financially
responsible thing to do at this time would be to table any further pursuit of acquisition of the
property and withdraw the offer made to purchase until a better determination can be made as
to what the long-term effects of the pandemic will be on the economy and the City's budget.
It was agreed that discussions about possible acquisition of the property could be brought up
again at a future time when the economy has rebounded to a point that such an acquisition
could be feasible and in the best interests of the City and its citizens; however, at this point it
would be best to table discussions and take a wait and see approach.
15.
