CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of January 22,2018 — Workshop <br />Page 8 of 10 <br />used for soccer, rugby, flag football, etc.; potential for land acquisition for conversion to parking spaces; <br />estimates of cost for restroom construction; approximate figures contained in list did not include land <br />acquisition; heavily residential area and well -used park; only other park on west side is Pawmosa Dog <br />Park; <br />CONSENSUS: The City Commission agreed by consensus for discussion purposes to <br />allocate $1.5 million for improvements and enhancements to Sunnytown <br />Park to include those recommended by staff, for inclusion in a possible <br />bond referendum issue. <br />Discussion: Brief discussion ensued about the potential for additional funding via grant monies from <br />soccer organizations as suggested by Dr. Mario Alvarado, founder of GOSA, at the last regular City <br />Commission meeting and whether there were options for additional park ingress and egress. <br />Park Name: Service Enhancements <br />Estimated Cost: <br />Other Enhancements <br />• Acquire South Triplet Lake Lakefront Park $ 1,000,000.00 <br />• Develop south Triplet Lakefront Park $ 3,000,000.00 <br />• Land acquisition to reduce parkland deficiency to the year 2037 $ 10,000,000.00 <br />• Develop "Community Gardens" $ 10,000.00 <br />• Develop a skate park $ 250,000.00 <br />• Develop a destination splash pad $ <br />450,000.00 <br />• *Acquisition/development of a new park in the northern part of the City $ 3.500 000.00 <br />Enhancements Total: $ 19,010,000.00 <br />Discussion: Discussion ensued with input from City Manager Randy Newlon, Recreation Manager <br />Linda Moore and Public Works Director Mark Gisclar regarding other enhancements proposed in the <br />Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Master Plan, which included: feasibility and potential of developing <br />the Northeast Industrial Park into an active park to be the seventh included in potential funding by a bond <br />issue; feasibility of developing a destination splash pad at one of the parks; park space deficiencies <br />brought to light in the Master Plan and possibility for additional land acquisitions; need for resolution of <br />any zoning issues associated with development of the Northeast Industrial Park properties as park space, <br />including zoning options for location of adult entertainment establishments (Mr. Newlon advised that this <br />issue would be presented to the City Commission for discussion at the first regular City Commission <br />meeting in February); <br />CONSENSUS: The City Commission agreed by consensus to allocate for discussion <br />purposes $3.5 million for development of the Northeast Industrial <br />Park properties into an active park and to direct staff to research <br />zoning alternatives for location of adult entertainment <br />establishments. <br />
