City of Casselberry
Parks & Recreation Advisory Board
Regular Meeting— March 13, 2018
6. Items for Discussion:
A. Trail Project Prioritization for 2018 Metroplan Orlando Submittal
Dr. Kelly Brock, Deputy Public Works Director introduced and briefly discussed the Trail Project
Prioritization for 2018 Metroplan Orlando which included unfunded trail projects from the City of
Casselberry. The Multimodal Transportation Master Plan and Park, Recreation, Pathways, and Open
Spaces Master Plan identified several trail and bicycle/pedestrian needs that currently not funded.
Dr. Brock discussed the four plans listed: North Winter Park Drive Trail, Sunset Park to Secret Lake Park
Trail, Ascension Trail and the Kewannee Trail. After further discussion, it was determined that
Ascension Trail and Kewannee Trail plans should be listed as the two highest priorities.
Audience Particioation:
John Casselberry, 700 South Lost Lake Lane, asked if there was a 50 -foot right-of-way on North Winter
Park Drive to provide enough area for sidewalks.
Alan Pedemonti, 171 Quail Pond Circle, discussed concerns of the proposed North Winter Park Trail
that would travel behind the residential community where there is no code enforcement. The Sunset
to Secret Lake Trail just recently added a large bridge project. The Ascension and Kewannee Trail
projects would be, in his opinion, the best choices.
Motion made by Vice Chairman Icenhower to make a recommendation to the City
Commission to consider the following trail projects as the highest priorities to submit to the
Metroplan Orlando in this order:
1. Ascension Trail
2. Kewanee Trail
3. North Winter Park Drive Trail
4. Sunset Park to Secret Lake Park Trail
Motion seconded by Member Farmer. Motion passed unanimously 5-0.
7. Staff Reports:
Ms. Moore briefly reported about upcoming events.
