City of Casselberry <br />Parks & Recreation Advisory Board <br />Regular Meeting — February 13, 2018 <br />A. Ms. Moore discussed the Land Water Conservation Fund Grant (LWCF) Application for Secret Lake Park <br />Redevelopment Project. The City is submitting a grant application for the LWCF Program Grant <br />Application 2018 for the Secret Lake Redevelopment Project. LWCF is a competitive program that <br />provides grants for acquisition, development and redevelopment of land for public outdoor recreation <br />use. The grant amount requested is $200,000 and the City must provide a match of $200,000. Secret <br />Lake Park provides a variety of recreational and event activities for all ages. If awarded, the LWCF <br />grant will help address several issues identified in the Parks and Recreation Master Plan. <br />Member Icenhower made a motion that the Board recommend to the City Commission that they <br />approve the submission of the grant application for the Secret Lake redevelopment project in the <br />amount of $200,000. Member Lallathin seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously 3-0. <br />B. Ms. Moore discussed the proposed Lake Tye GameTime playground equipment for Secret Lake Park to <br />replace the outdated unit. The new equipment provides additional recreational opportunities for <br />youth ages 5-12. It will replace the older equipment which cannot be repaired. The equipment <br />enhances a child's strength, balance, coordination and decision-making skills. The playground <br />equipment theme will complement the existing Blueway Trail system that launches at Secret Lake Park. <br />Approximate cost for the unit is $150,000 and funding is currently in the City's budget. Approximate <br />installation time is 3 months out after approval. <br />Member Icenhower made a motion for the Board to make the recommendation that the City <br />Commission to approve the purchase of the Lake Tye GameTime playground unit for Secret Lake <br />Park. Member Lallathin seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously 3-0. <br />6. Staff Report <br />® Ms. Moore reports that staff is providing more information for the City's Facebook page. <br />® The Commission discussed that the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board continue as a 5 <br />member Board with 1 alternate and this will be approved at an upcoming Commission <br />meeting. <br />7. Board Member Reports: <br />® Member Lallathin introduced herself as a new member of the Board. Member Callan also <br />introduced himself. <br />
