RESOLUTION 17 -2952 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, CONFIRMING THE DECLARATION OF A <br />STATE OF EMERGENCY AND ALL EMERGENCY REGULATIONS <br />ACTIVATED BY THE CITY MANAGER AS PROVIDED BY CHAPTER <br />30 OF THE CASSELBERRY CODE OF ORDINANCES; PROVIDING <br />FOR AN EXTENSION OF THE 72 -HOUR TIME LIMIT FOR SAID <br />STATE OF EMERGENCY THROUGH TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, <br />2017, EXPIRING AT MIDNIGHT; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City Manager of the City of Casselberry is authorized to declare a state <br />of emergency as provided by Section 30 -7 of the City Code of Ordinances; and <br />WHEREAS, a public state of weather emergency as provided by Section 30 -10 of the <br />City Code of Ordinances was declared by the City Manager at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, <br />2017 due to the anticipated impacts of Hurricane Irma on the City of Casselberry; and <br />WHEREAS, the declaration of a public state of weather emergency was required for <br />activation of emergency plans adopted by the City; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 30 -7(b) of the City Code of Ordinances requires that the City <br />Commission confirm the emergency declaration made by the City Manager; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 30 -7(f) of the City Code of Ordinances requires the City <br />Commission to authorize a request to extend the emergency declaration beyond the 72 -hour time <br />limit. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby confirms the decision of the City Manager <br />to declare a public state of weather emergency due to the anticipated impacts of Hurricane Irma <br />on the City of Casselberry. Per City Code Section 30 -7(e), the public state of weather <br />emergency commenced at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017 and shall terminate at the <br />end of a period of 72 consecutive hours, said termination being at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, <br />September 12, 2017. A copy of the City Manager's emergency declaration is attached to this <br />resolution as Exhibit A. <br />SECTION 2. The City Commission authorizes the extension of the 72 -hour time limit of <br />the public state of emergency through Tuesday, September 19, 2017, expiring at midnight. <br />SECTION 3. The City Commission hereby confirms all purchases and contracts for <br />service that were deemed necessary and approved by the City Manager during the period of the <br />public state of weather emergency and extension thereof. <br />
