RESOLUTION 17 -2952 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, CONFIRMING THE DECLARATION OF A STATE OF EMERGENCY AND ALL EMERGENCY REGULATIONS ACTIVATED BY THE CITY MANAGER AS PROVIDED BY CHAPTER 30 OF THE CASSELBERRY CODE OF ORDINANCES; PROVIDING FOR AN EXTENSION OF THE 72 -HOUR TIME LIMIT FOR SAID STATE OF EMERGENCY THROUGH TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2017, EXPIRING AT MIDNIGHT; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Manager of the City of Casselberry is authorized to declare a state of emergency as provided by Section 30 -7 of the City Code of Ordinances; and WHEREAS, a public state of weather emergency as provided by Section 30 -10 of the City Code of Ordinances was declared by the City Manager at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017 due to the anticipated impacts of Hurricane Irma on the City of Casselberry; and WHEREAS, the declaration of a public state of weather emergency was required for activation of emergency plans adopted by the City; and WHEREAS, Section 30 -7(b) of the City Code of Ordinances requires that the City Commission confirm the emergency declaration made by the City Manager; and WHEREAS, Section 30 -7(f) of the City Code of Ordinances requires the City Commission to authorize a request to extend the emergency declaration beyond the 72 -hour time limit. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby confirms the decision of the City Manager to declare a public state of weather emergency due to the anticipated impacts of Hurricane Irma on the City of Casselberry. Per City Code Section 30 -7(e), the public state of weather emergency commenced at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017 and shall terminate at the end of a period of 72 consecutive hours, said termination being at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017. A copy of the City Manager's emergency declaration is attached to this resolution as Exhibit A. SECTION 2. The City Commission authorizes the extension of the 72 -hour time limit of the public state of emergency through Tuesday, September 19, 2017, expiring at midnight. SECTION 3. The City Commission hereby confirms all purchases and contracts for service that were deemed necessary and approved by the City Manager during the period of the public state of weather emergency and extension thereof.
