He emphasized how appreciative he was of community cooperation and staff attitude and patience as they managed the storm event. Discussion: A brief discussion ensued regarding various storm -related issues, including information sources; power outages and restoration; and precautions taken to maintain the City's lift stations in the event of power outages. Mr. Newlon and the Commissioners expressed appreciation to Chief Krantz for his leadership during the storm event, and to all city staff who worked the storm, both during and after. Budget Impact: There is no impact to the City Budget. Recommendation: The City Manager recommended approval of Resolution 16-2915. Audience participation: No one came forward to address Resolution 16-2915. MOTION: Vice Mayor Aramendia moved to approve Resolution 16-2915, as presented. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Solomon. Motion carried unanimously by voice vote 5-0. Mr. Newlon requested that the City Commission consider a motion to authorize funding to pay compensation to exempt employees who worked during the storm. He explained that these were salaried employees who would not otherwise be entitled to compensation, whereas other non-exempt employees would be receiving normal time and a half compensation. He advised that this was not an unusual request but was consistent with what was done during the three major storms in 2004. He added that there was a possibility these costs would be subject to recovery down the road, and he would recommend this compensation for the exempt employees. MOTION: Vice Mayor Aramendia moved to approve overtime compensation for exempt employees who worked during the State of Emergency period for Hurricane Matthew. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Solomon. Motion carried unanimously by voice vote 5-0. No items were presented for consideration on this agenda.
