He emphasized how appreciative he was of community cooperation and staff attitude and <br />patience as they managed the storm event. <br />Discussion: A brief discussion ensued regarding various storm -related issues, including information sources; <br />power outages and restoration; and precautions taken to maintain the City's lift stations in the event of power <br />outages. Mr. Newlon and the Commissioners expressed appreciation to Chief Krantz for his leadership during <br />the storm event, and to all city staff who worked the storm, both during and after. <br />Budget Impact: There is no impact to the City Budget. <br />Recommendation: The City Manager recommended approval of Resolution 16-2915. <br />Audience participation: No one came forward to address Resolution 16-2915. <br />MOTION: Vice Mayor Aramendia moved to approve Resolution 16-2915, as presented. <br />Motion was seconded by Commissioner Solomon. Motion carried unanimously <br />by voice vote 5-0. <br />Mr. Newlon requested that the City Commission consider a motion to authorize funding to pay compensation <br />to exempt employees who worked during the storm. He explained that these were salaried employees who <br />would not otherwise be entitled to compensation, whereas other non-exempt employees would be receiving <br />normal time and a half compensation. He advised that this was not an unusual request but was consistent with <br />what was done during the three major storms in 2004. He added that there was a possibility these costs would <br />be subject to recovery down the road, and he would recommend this compensation for the exempt employees. <br />MOTION: Vice Mayor Aramendia moved to approve overtime compensation for exempt <br />employees who worked during the State of Emergency period for Hurricane <br />Matthew. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Solomon.
