CITY OF CASSELBERRY PARKS & RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD The City of Casselberry's Parks & Recreation Advisory Board held its regular meeting Tuesday, July 8, 2014 in the City of Casselberry Commission Chambers, 95 Triplet Lake Drive, Casselberry, Florida. Daphne Keys called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. Board Members Present: Jessica Eckhart Daphne Keys Ana Mancheno Cheryl Evans Board Members Absent: Staff Present: Linda Moore, Recreation Manager Karen Sorrentino, Recording Secretary Audience John Casselberry Approval of Minutes Ms. Evans moved to approve the May 13, 2014 minutes as written. Ms. Keys seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Staff Report: • Camp Casselberry — Camp is on track and going well. In 2015, Camp Casselberry may be split between using the Wirz Park Building and the Recreation Center at Secret Lake Park. • RunYak — The third annual RunYak, sponsored by the City of Casselberry, Travel Country and Friends of the Park will be held on August 23, 2014 at Secret Lake Park. • 5K Rock N Run - The Rock -N -Run event will be held on September 13, 2014 at Lake Concord Park. Battle of the Bands will feature music at every mile. • Blues Festival — The Blues Festival will be held on November 14, 2014 and may possibly be an all -day event with live blues music, craft beers and lots of food. • Farmers Market — The Farmers Market has been moved to Saturday from 9:OOam — 1:30pm, located near the Casselberry Police Dept. • Hero Games — This is a new event which will be held October 18, 2014 at Secret Lake Park. It is a combination of running and obstacle courses to benefit the Wheelchair Foundation. • Franklin's Friends Howl -O -Weep — This is a new event which will be held on October 25, 2014 at Lake Concord Park. This is a canine costume contest, all proceeds benefit Franklin's Friends a non - profit organization whose mission is to promote animal welfare and support animal charities across Central Florida. • Smooth Jazz Concert — This new concert will be held at Lake Concord Park on November 8, 2014. The Smooth Jazz Foundation will be bringing in four bands. The ticket price will be $35.00 each.
