Community Redevelopment Agency
June 25, 2014
Fourth Item of Business: Approval of CRA Minutes for the meeting held on April 17, 2014.
Mr. McGregor asked for a motion on the approval of the minutes for the meeting held on April 17, 2014. Mr.
Jones made a motion to approve the April 17, 2014 minutes. Mr. Trueba seconded the motion. The motion passed
unanimously by voice vote.
The agenda order was modified.
Fifth Item of Business: Facade Grant Extension - Walter Judge
Ms. Sandra Smith, Community Development Director, said this is a request to consider extending the
$30,000 Facade Grant that was previously approved for the property located at 1501 East Altamonte Drive owned by
Mr. Walter Judge. Ms. Smith reviewed the project timeline that was included in the agenda packet. Ms. Smith stated
that the original facade design has been changed and the new proposed facade design information has been
provided in the agenda packet. Ms. Smith said that Mr. Judge had originally hoped to provide a restaurant on the site
with dining along the lake. She said due to the parking requirements for a restaurant use and the addition of the
second floor, the site could not accommodate the square footage for the second floor. Ms. Smith explained that the
second floor is a facade and provides no useable space. Ms. Smith said that Mr. Judge has received his building
permit and construction has started on the site.
Ms. Smith said this is a request to extend Mr. Judge's $30,000 Facade Grant. In response to the Board's
question, Ms. Smith said there are no outstanding facade grants. She said the Board previously provided grants to
Oxford Square Shopping Center and Shoot Straight. A brief discussion ensued regarding the Board's decision to
discontinue facade grants and the construction of utilities on Mr. Judge's site.
In response to the Board's question regarding the proposed tenants for the site, Mr. Walter Judge said the
three current tenants at the site are: Just Blaze Barbershop, E Smoke and Unity Tattoo. He said that he has a
Kitchen and Bath store tenant scheduled for the site. Mr. Judge estimated that the work would be completed in 60
days.
Mr. McGregor asked for a motion to extend the facade grant. Mr. Jones made a motion to extend Walter
Judge's facade grant. Mr. Alfred seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously by voice vote.
It was stated that the facade grant was extended until the site receives the certificate of occupancy.
