CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION Minutes of November 12, 2013 — Regular Meeting Page 14 of 16 Mr. James Fraleigh, 23 Teresa Court, expressed concerns about several issues, including what he perceived to be a lack of respect in how the City treats its residents, businesses and employees; over- development in the City; perceived detrimental effect of the State Road 436/Highway 17 -92 flyover project; taxes; employee salaries; and needed street light repairs. No one else came forward. 17. CITY COMMISSIONERS' REPORTS /COMMENTS Commissioner Anthony Aramendia — Seat No. 1: • Stated he attended the Casselberty Chamber of Commerce Food and Wine Festival and congratulated Vice Mayor Hufford on the success of the event. • Advised he had attended the Veteran's Day event held by Casselberry Veteran's, Inc. and it was very well attended. • Reported he had also attended the Craft Beer and Blues Festival event which was a phenomenal event with a great turnout. He extended kudos to Alan Ambler for his group's participation as part of the entertainment. • Thanked the Public Works Department for getting three new street lights installed on North Lost Lake Lane. • Commented that Applebee's seems to be doing very well which he felt was an indication that restaurants can do well in this area and people want to see new restaurants in the City. • Advised he was involved with organizing the City's participation with the City of Maitland in the Relay for Life event which would be held at South Seminole Middle School. He invited anyone interested in putting together a team to contact him. Commissioner Gene Fry — Seat No. 2: • Stated he also had attended and enjoyed the Craft Beer and Blues Festival and commended Alan Ambler on his group's participation. • Congratulated Vice Mayor Hufford on the success of the Chamber of Commerce Food and Wine Festival, stating it was one of the best so far. • Stated he would like to see staff review the City's ordinances to see if there were any changes that could be made which would benefit businesses within the City, as he felt there were legitimate concerns and he did not like to see businesses leaving the City. • Commented on the concerns expressed by citizens earlier in the meeting regarding law enforcement. • Commended Chief McNeil on the work he has done to make improvements to the department which has resulted in it being a model of professionalism, and also a reduction in the City's crime statistics. He also commended Chief Harkins and all the other department heads for the good work done by their staff.
