CITY COMMISSIONERS' REPORTS /COMMENTS <br />Commissioner Anthony Aramendia — Seat No. 1: <br />• Reported that the Spooktoberfest event was very well attended and he had served as a judge for the <br />costume contest. <br />• Advised that he would be participating in Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society this year for <br />the fifth year, and invited all who would like to participate to do so, as it was a very good cause. <br />• Stated that it was possible he would be unable to attend the November 12, 2013 meeting due to his <br />grandmother's serious illness. <br />• Advised that planning had begun for Earth Fest 2014 and asked that anyone having contacts with any <br />organizations which were either earth friendly or had earth friendly initiatives and would like to be <br />involved, please provide him with that information. <br />Commissioner Gene Fry — Seat No. 2: <br />Inquired whether the Red Bug Road flyover project was on track for completion at the end of <br />November. Public Works Director Mark Gisclar advised that it was on track to open up the roadway, <br />but actual completion of the entire project would most likely be late January or February of 2014. In <br />response to questions from the Commission, Mr. Newton advised that Seminole County had decided <br />against a ribbon- cutting ceremony for the project upon its completion. <br />Inquired whether the City was still on track for removal of the equipment being stored across the street <br />from City Hall in December. Mr. Gisclar advised that they were still pushing for completion of the <br />current pipe bursting projects by the end of December, and the amount of equipment being stored was <br />dwindling. He added that an additional pipe bursting project was in the budget for Dommerich Hills <br />in Orange County, but that the staging area for that project would be somewhere else. <br />Commissioner Colleen Hufford — Seat No. 4: <br />Congratulated Sandra Smith on being selected as the new Community Development Director. <br />• Expressed appreciation to the Commissioners, City Manager and staff for their scheduling of and <br />support of the two recent roundtable discussion meetings with state legislators. She stated she felt <br />there were both good events which allowed the City to advocate for things happening with the City <br />and to learn about things happening at the state level. <br />• Reported that she had also attended the Spooktoberfest event with her granddaughters, and she had <br />participated as a judge in the dog costume contest. She thanked all the staff who worked to make the <br />event successful. <br />Stated she had attended the soft opening of Applebee's on Saturday night, and it was a very nice <br />event. <br />Advised that the Casselberry Chamber of Commerce Food and Wine Festival would be held Monday, <br />November 4, 2013 from 6:00 -9:00 p.m. in Lake Concord Park. She added that the proceeds from the <br />event would go to the Casselberry Elementary School food bank, the Casselberry Art House, and to <br />fund scholarships for graduating seniors from the Casselberry area. <br />
