RESOLUTION 13 -2547 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE AWARD OF BID AND EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT WITH SAWCROSS, INC. FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A HYDRO- PNEUMATIC TANK AT THE HOWELL PARK WATER TREATMENT PLANT; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City owns, operates and maintains three water treatment plants that have independent high service pumps that are synchronized in operation; and WHEREAS, the pumps occasionally have difficulties synchronizing their operation and the resulting hydraulic surge can contribute to distribution pipes breaking; and WHEREAS, a hydro - pneumatic tank (hydro tank) is a best management practice for mitigating hydraulic surges; and WHEREAS, on August 27, 2012, via Resolution 12 -2411, the City Commission approved the design of a hydro - pneumatic tank at the Howell Park Water Treatment Plant with Reiss Engineering, Inc; and WHEREAS, City staff advertised the hydro tank construction project in the Orlando Sentinel and three bids were received; and WHEREAS, Sawcross, Inc. was the lowest bidder for the project; and WHEREAS, Public Works staff has reviewed the bid proposal and construction agreement with Sawcross, Inc. and finds it favorable to the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The City Commission of the City of Casselberry hereby approves the agreement with Sawcross, Inc., for an amount not to exceed $166,000 and authorizes the Mayor to execute said document on behalf of the City. SECTION II. Conflicts. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict with any of the provisions of this Resolution are hereby repealed. SECTION III. Severability. If any Section or portion of a Section of this Resolution proves to be invalid, unlawful, or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to invalidate or impair the validity, force, or effect of any other Section or part of this Resolution.
