RESOLUTION 13 -2547 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE <br />AWARD OF BID AND EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT WITH <br />SAWCROSS, INC. FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A HYDRO- PNEUMATIC <br />TANK AT THE HOWELL PARK WATER TREATMENT PLANT; <br />PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City owns, operates and maintains three water treatment plants that <br />have independent high service pumps that are synchronized in operation; and <br />WHEREAS, the pumps occasionally have difficulties synchronizing their operation and <br />the resulting hydraulic surge can contribute to distribution pipes breaking; and <br />WHEREAS, a hydro - pneumatic tank (hydro tank) is a best management practice for <br />mitigating hydraulic surges; and <br />WHEREAS, on August 27, 2012, via Resolution 12 -2411, the City Commission <br />approved the design of a hydro - pneumatic tank at the Howell Park Water Treatment Plant with <br />Reiss Engineering, Inc; and <br />WHEREAS, City staff advertised the hydro tank construction project in the Orlando <br />Sentinel and three bids were received; and <br />WHEREAS, Sawcross, Inc. was the lowest bidder for the project; and <br />WHEREAS, Public Works staff has reviewed the bid proposal and construction <br />agreement with Sawcross, Inc. and finds it favorable to the City. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION I. The City Commission of the City of Casselberry hereby approves the <br />agreement with Sawcross, Inc., for an amount not to exceed $166,000 and authorizes the Mayor <br />to execute said document on behalf of the City. <br />SECTION II. Conflicts. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict with any of the <br />provisions of this Resolution are hereby repealed. <br />SECTION III. Severability. If any Section or portion of a Section of this Resolution <br />proves to be invalid, unlawful, or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to invalidate or impair the <br />validity, force, or effect of any other Section or part of this Resolution. <br />
