Casselberry Economic Development Advisory Board <br />Minutes of April 16, 2013 Meeting <br />Page 4 <br />He stated they plan on adding some striping to re- emphasize that bikes share the roadway. He stated that the City <br />wanted the streets themselves to be a better pedestrian experience. <br />The Board stated one potential strategy is to focus on making the City the best possible experience for <br />Casselberry residents and businesses so they stay local first. After this has been established, they should then <br />broaden their scope to integrate with larger connectors such as Interstate 4 and SunRail. They stated that <br />Casselberry has a high level of internal connectivity and the City's focus should be Casselberry- centric. <br />Mr. Brock stated that the City is working on a better experience for Casselberry residents through <br />infrastructure projects and using money from the Tree Fund which pays for the planting of new trees in the public <br />right -of -way. <br />The Board said that there should be an effort to make people feel connected to Casselberry. There should <br />be a sense of ownership coming from the community. They stated the commodity in Casselberry is the people of <br />Casselberry and they are the core consumer. Fostering that core consumer will draw others from the outside. <br />Mr. Lloyd left the meeting at 1:01 pm. <br />Public Comment <br />Mr. John Casselberry, 700 S. Lost Lake Lane, Casselberry Florida came forward. Mr. Casselberry felt that <br />multimodal systems start to fall apart when it rains. He felt that maybe the City should contract with cab companies, <br />He additionally felt that something smaller than a bus (for the FlexBus demonstration project) might work better and it <br />should accommodate bicycles. <br />Mr. Kelly Brock, City Engineer, stated that the bus will be a smaller vehicle, about 14 passengers, and would <br />accommodate bike racks. <br />Mr. Casselberry additionally felt that the Interstate 4 plan was very similar to a project in Jacksonville, He felt <br />the biggest difficulty on Interstate 4 was traffic merging and that local traffic may be its biggest congestion factor. <br />Other Business <br />Mr. Kyle Dudgeon, Economic Development Planner, suggested that the Board consider 'Marketing and <br />Branding' as the concept for their next meeting. <br />
