asselberry Housing Task Force <br />leptember 18, 2012 <br />Page 2 <br />Seed Strategy: Grants and Loans <br />Mr. Kyle Dudgeon, Economic Development Planner, reviewed information provided in a powerpoint <br />Presentation regarding a potential seed strategy for adding value to the housing stock through grant and /or loan <br />Programs. A copy of the powerpoint presentation is attached and made a past of the minutes. Discussion was <br />caferred to after the Community Development Corporation presentation. <br />Seed Strategy: Community Development Corporation Introduction <br />Mr. Kyle Dudgeon, Economic Development Planner, reviewed information provided in a powerpoint <br />p-esentation pertaining to Community Development Corporations and how they may add value to neighborhoods. A <br />copy of the powerpoint presentation is attached and made a part of the minutes. <br />A discussion ensued regarding the approach to housing retrofits. The Task Force suggested that any <br />recommendation to housing rehabilitations be focused on areas that have good exposure to potential Casselberry <br />homeowners and should be targeted as such. <br />Mr. Kyle Dudgeon, Economic Development Planner, disclosed that the Task Force considers the timeframe <br />involved for targeted housing rehabilitation efforts. He stated that if the Task Force were to recommend this approach <br />that great care should be considered when choosing which homes to retrofit, which might take more time. <br />The Task Force additionally discussed the value a Community Development Corporation (CDC) may <br />provide. Mr. Kyle Dudgeon stated that there were several program options available to such an organization. A short <br />follow -up discussion ensued regarding the organizational structure of a CDC and the programs available to them. <br />Audience Participation <br />Mr. John Casselberry, 700 South Lost Lake Lane, Casselberry, Florida came forward. Mr. Casselberry <br />expressed his opinion regarding mobile homes. He suggested he didn't think mixing the product of mobile, modular, <br />and single family homes was a good idea. Instead, he stated that the City should engage with mobile home dealers <br />to replace old homes on the lots. <br />Other Business <br />Sandra Smith, Interim Community Development Director reminded the Task Force that a City Commission <br />meeting on November 13th conflicted with the next Housing Task Force meeting.
