Casselberry Housing Task Force <br />July 17, 2012 <br />Page 2 <br />Golf Course Updates <br />Mr. Don Martin, Community Development Director, provided information relating to updates with the <br />Casselberry Golf Course. Mr. Martin disclosed that the golf course wants to close because it's no longer profitable. <br />He stated that a series of public meetings would ensue regarding the future of the golf course. <br />A lengthy discussion ensued regarding the viability of golf's future and the potential for repurposing course <br />land that would add value to the Casselberry community. <br />North Casselberry Data Review <br />Mr. Kyle Dudgeon, Economic Development Planner and Mr. Don Martin, Community Development Director, <br />reviewed information provided in a powerpoint presentation regarding the North Casselberry area. A copy of the <br />powerpoint presentation is attached and made a part of the minutes. <br />Discussion <br />A lengthy discussion ensued regarding the opportunities and constraints of the North Casselberry area. The <br />Task Force reviewed several options to improve the area including beautification efforts, rezoning, acquisition, and <br />rehabilitation. The Task Force also examined potential funding opportunities including the federal Neighborhood <br />Stabilization Program (NSP). The Task Force approved a subcommittee to analyze the potential for acquiring <br />Neighborhood Stabilization Program funds to focus on arresting neighborhood decline with a particular focus on the <br />North Casselberry area. Mr. Michael Wadley, Mr. Andrew Meadows, Mr. Kyle Dudgeon, Mr. Don Martin, and Ms. <br />Kelly Pisciotta were appointed to the subcommittee. <br />Audience Participation <br />Mr. Harley Parkhurst, 228 Secret Way, Casselberry, Florida came forward. Mr. Parkhurst voiced his opinion <br />regarding the foreclosure market, the Casselberry Golf Course and provided viewpoints regarding potential <br />opportunities and constraints that currently inhabit the City. <br />
