CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of February 25, 2013 — Executive Session and Regular Meeting <br />Page 18 of 19 <br />Also expressed appreciation to former Commissioner Miller for his service, stating she had worked <br />with him since his Board of Adjustment days. She added that his good humor and his insight had <br />been invaluable. <br />Stated she had done some research on the group homes /sex offender issue brought up at a previous <br />meeting by Commissioner Aramendia. She stated she had gotten with Chief McNeil about the subject <br />and he knew someone at the Sheriff's Department who was very knowledgeable on the subject and <br />they would try to get a presentation on the subject prepared for a future meeting. She gave a brief <br />overview of some of the concerns, stating that the County and the City have very detailed procedures <br />for dealing with sex offenders, and the City utilizes the Seminole County Code regarding the <br />residential restrictions on these offenders. She also briefly touched on the issue of group homes, <br />which are regulated by various state agencies depending on the type of home, and also "sober homes ", <br />which are not currently regulated. <br />Advised that Senator Thrasher had brought forward an internet caE moratorium bill that may pass in <br />the legislature. <br />Reported there was another bill being presented relating to red light cameras. <br />No report. <br />Commissioner Anthony Aramendia — Seat No. 1: <br />• Reported that the Jazz Concert and the Swing for the Arts events were coming up on March 9`11 <br />. <br />• Advised the Farmer's Market had been doing extremely well. <br />• Reported that the Lakefront Workshop on Thursday had been well attended. <br />• Thanked former Commissioner Miller for all his hard work, and wished him the best of luck. <br />Commissioner Colleen Hufford — Seat No. 4: <br />Noted she believed the subject of the Overlay District along 436 which had been brought up earlier by <br />former Commissioner Miller was a good idea for a future agenda item, and could likely end up being <br />his legacy. <br />Reported she was in Tallahassee last week and spoke to the Senate about pension reform. She stated <br />she had also seen Representative Karen Castor- Dentel and had talked with her about several issues, <br />including a pending bill which, if passed, would require municipal water companies providing water <br />outside their jurisdictions to fall under the Public Service Commission. <br />Advised she and Mr. Newlon would be meeting with Senator Simmons on Wednesday about pension <br />
