CITY ®F CASSEL ERRY <br />PARKS RECREATI®N ADVIS®RY B®ARD <br />The City of Casselberry's Parks & Recreation Advisory Board held its regular meeting <br />Tuesday, September 13, 2011 in the City of Casselberry Commission Chambers, 95 <br />Triplet Lake Drive, Casselberry, Florida. June Herron called the meeting to order at 7:02 <br />p.m. <br />hoard Members Present: <br />June Herron <br />Jessica Eckhart <br />Cheryl Evans <br />Daphne Keys <br />hoard Members Absent: <br />Michael Mason (Excused) <br />Staff Present: <br />Linda Moore, Recreation Manager <br />Luis Cruz, Park Development/Facilities Manager <br />Alicia Kardell, Recording Secretary . <br />Approval of Minutes <br />Ms. Herron moved to approve the June 14t" minutes as written. Ms. Keys seconded the <br />motion. The motion passed unanimously. <br />Items for Discussion <br />FRDAP Grant Application for Branch Tree Park <br />Mr. Cruz made a short presentation, discussing the Florida Recreation Development <br />Assistance Program (FRDAP) Grant application for Branch Tree Park. He is applying <br />fora $36,095 grant from FRDAP for renovations to the park. The grant does not require <br />a match, although Mr. Cruz plans on getting a local match of $10,838. Some of the <br />renovations planned are the resurfacing of the basketball court, new playground <br />equipment, creation of a small soccer/multi-purpose field, and pavilion improvements. <br />The grant application was approved by the City Commission on 9/12/11. The <br />application is due on 9/15/11. <br />Ms. Eckhart made a motion to support the FRDAP grant application for Branch Tree <br />Park. Ms. Evans seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. <br />Wirz Trail Section I Construction Update <br />Mr. Cruz was happy to report that the City broke ground on Wirz Trail Section I on <br />August 1. This portion of the project is expected to be completed in nine months. <br />Section I includes a loop around the wetlands in Wirz Park, a 1,000 ft boardwalk, and <br />connection to Kewanee Trail across SR 436. Section I will be 2.9 miles long. The <br />portion of the trail that runs in front of Dave's World Cycle and Rolando's will be <br />incorporated into the flyover project, with construction possibly in 2013. <br />
