CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of February 9, 2009 - Workshop
Page 2 of2

Discussion: The City Commission discussed the designated parking alignment and agreed that it should be
parallel to the driveway. Discussion regarding front yard coverage ensued and consensus was that parking
would be allowed on one side and the driveway width should be limited to the width of the existing
garage/carport. Further consensus was reached that an impervious area maximum was needed, but a
maximum would not be necessary for pervious area. Consensus was also reached on the following:
Parking in circular driveways would continue to be permitted; parking on grass would not be permitted;
approved materials would include both pervious and impervious for existing propeliies, and impervious
materials would only be required for new and redevelopment construction; conformance requirements for
existing propeliies can be a combination of pervious and impervious materials, and a border or edging
would be required if impervious materials are used.

Lengthy discussion ensued regarding parking of vehicles in rear yards, implementation and enforcement of
the proposed new regulations, and the economic impacts to citizens if the new requirements required
retrofitting or upgrading their current parking areas.

Consensus of the City Commission was to continue discussion of parking in residential districts and
finalize Commission consensus on the subject by adding it to the Februmy 9, 2009 Regular Agenda under
Section 13, Discussion Items.

III. ADJOURNMENT

Mayor Glancy adjourned the workshop at 7:03 p.m.

DATE MINUTES APPROVED BY CITY COMMISSION:

ATTEST:

Donna G. Gardner, CMC
City Clerk
