Seminole County Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS) <br />broadcast and re-broadcast on WCEU, a Central Florida public broadcast <br />channel. <br />Other upcoming or otherwise planned but incomplete community outreach efforts <br />will focus on including the precepts of mitigation in current public information <br />activities, and to make the public aware of this planning process, its goals and <br />objectives, and opportunities for public input at every possible occasion. <br />The Seminole County LMS Working Group will continue efforts to develop and <br />implement ayear-round program to engage the community in the LMS planning <br />process and to provide them with mitigation-related information and education. <br />These efforts will be to continually invite public comments and recommendations <br />regarding the mitigation goals for the community, the priorities for the planning, <br />and the unique needs of each community for mitigation-related public <br />information. <br />The following references were utilized to provide applicable guidance <br />during the revision process of the LMS. <br />• Seminole County Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code <br />o This reference was utilized to ensure uniformity amongst the <br />county planning efforts. <br />• Municipal Comprehensive Plans and Land Development Codes <br />o This reference was utilized to ensure uniformity amongst the <br />municipal planning efforts. <br />• Florida Administrative Rule 9G-22.004 <br />o This reference was utilized for guidance for the processes for <br />application, project selection and the distribution of funds <br />under the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. <br />• Local Multi-Hazard Mitigation Planning Guidance (FEMA, dated <br />7/1 /08) <br />o This reference was utilized to ensure the requirements of 44 <br />CFR §201.6, Local Mitigation Plans were met. <br />• "State and Local Mitigation Planning How-to-Guide, Version 1.0", <br />Federal Emergency Management Agency, August 2001. <br />o This reference was utilized as guidance for the type of <br />information needed to maintain a viable LMS planning process <br />and plan. <br />• "State and Local Plan Interim Criteria Under the Disaster Mitigation <br />Act of 2000", Federal Emergency Management Agency, March 26, <br />2002. <br />o The criteria was utilized for the revision of the Seminole <br />County LMS and submitted with the final draft. <br />• "Understanding Your Risks, Identifying Hazards and Estimating <br />Losses", FEMA, August 2001. <br />o This reference was utilized as guidance for the hazards <br />analysis and risk assessment for the LMS. <br />• NOAA Satellite and Information Service -National Climatic Data <br />Center - http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/ncdc.html <br />o This website was utilized for information and date gathering to <br />identify previous occurrences of hazard events. <br />Page <br />F <br />
