4. Only one (1) personal vehicle with a temporary registration and temporary license plate is permitted per <br />residential structure at any point in time. <br />Prepared parking area. Parking shall only occur on a prepared parking area located in the front yard or within <br />that portion of the side yard that provides access to a side entry garage or carport. Driveways and designated <br />parking areas are designated parking areas. <br />1. Definitions. The following definitions apply to Section 3-10.9 of the ULDR. <br />a. Circular driveway. A circular driveway is an access designed as asemi-circle with two aprons onto <br />the right-of-way. <br />b. Driveway. A path designed for vehicles that connect a residential unit or garage/carport with a <br />public or private street. <br />c. Designated parking area (DPA). An outdoor area in the front yard of a residential lot which is <br />designed in accordance with the requirements of this section for the parking of personal vehicles. <br />d. Front yard. The area forward of the front facades extending to the street property line and between <br />the side property lines. <br />2. Location and design. <br />1) Single family residential districts. See Sketch C. <br />a) Parking on the driveway and/or designated parking area shall be confined to no more than <br />one third of the front yard. <br />b) The driveway/designated parking area shall be cohesive and restricted to one side of the <br />yard or the other. The driveway/designated parking area shall be located to the side of <br />the property where the carport or garage is located. <br />c) The driveway/designated parking area shall not be located in the middle of the front yard <br />unless the driveway is designed to be circular or unless the lot configuration, natural <br />topography, natural feature, or entrance alignment with a public or private street prevent <br />the driveway from being located elsewhere. <br />d) A landscaped or grassed area shall be provided between the circular driveway and the <br />right-of-way. <br />e) Exemptions. The following parking situations shall be allowed: <br />i) Circular driveways may exceed the maximum one-third (1/3) width for the front yard. <br />A designated parking area is not permitted in addition to a circular driveway. <br />Ordinance 10-1314 <br />Parking <br />Page 6 <br />
