emergency situations, and that exceed the maximum four square feet of copy sign area requirement, <br />have sign copy area on the front and/or rear of the vehicle, or have reflective copy area, may be parked <br />on residential property and shall be exempted from the requirements of this Section related to sign <br />copy. The vehicle may also have emergency type attachments such as lights, sirens, and nudge bars. <br />The subject vehicle may not exceed any of the other criteria provided in ULDR Section 3-10.9 A. <br />C. Recreational eauipment. Recreational equipment includes recreational vehicles (RV); motor homes; boats; <br />trailers designed to carry recreational equipment; all-terrain vehicles (ATV's); campers; pickups with a mounted <br />camper; and similar equipment; motorized or not, for the resident's individual and personal use and licensed to <br />the property owner/resident where it is located. <br />1. Approved parking locations for recreational equipment. <br />a. Single-family and two-family residential district parking (R-8, R-9, R-12.5, R-2F, RMH-8, and detached <br />residential in a PRD) shall be in any of the following locations: <br />1) Garage <br />2) Carport <br />3) Screened side yard. Only one side yard may be utilized for business related vehicles or <br />recreational equipment parking. <br />4) Screened rear yard <br />b. Multi-family residential district parking. Parking in multi-family residential districts (RMF-13, RMF-20, <br />PMX-L, PMX-H, RMHP, and PRD) shall be regulated as follows: <br />1) Three to 24 dwelling units. Parking of recreational equipment on site is prohibited. <br />2) Twenty-five dwelling units or more: <br />i) Recreational equipment shall be parked only in areas specifically designated for such parking <br />purposes. The management company and/or homeowners' association are encouraged to <br />actively enforce the requirements of any lease or restrictive covenants on the common areas <br />that relate to recreational equipment parking. <br />ii) A minimum of one space per 25 units shall be provided for the purpose of parking and storing <br />recreational equipment. Any fraction of 25 shall require spaces rounded up to the next whole <br />number. <br />3) The recreational equipment storage area shall be at a distance as remote as possible from <br />surrounding residential districts or uses and from the dwelling units within the complex. <br />4) The recreational equipment storage area shall be a paved surface consistent with the rest of the <br />parking area within the development, and shall provide ample ingress and egress and space for <br />easy maneuverability for the types of vehicles and equipment using the area. <br />2. Additional requirements for recreational equipment. <br />a. At no time shall recreational equipment be used as a residence while stored or parked on residential <br />property. <br />b. Recreational equipment may be parked in the driveway or designated parking area for a maximum <br />period of 24 hours for the sole purpose of loading, unloading, or cleaning. <br />c. If the recreational equipment cannot be parked in the locations provided in Section 3-10.9.C, the <br />recreational equipment shall be removed from the residential district. <br />d. Storage or long-term parking of recreational equipment within any street orright-of-way is prohibited. <br />e. Only one recreational vehicle/motor home is permitted at a single family residence. <br />D. General Requirements applied to prohibited vehicles, permitted vehicles and recreational equipment (Sketch A). <br />1. Business related and recreational equipment parking is limited to one vehicle in a side yard. <br />2. Screening requirements. <br />a. Screening is defined as visual shielding or obscuring of a vehicle or equipment by a solid opaque fence <br />or wall or healthy landscape material. The height of the screen material should be sufficient to obscure <br />the vehicle from the adjacent property up to eight (8) feet in height. <br />Ordinance 10-1314 <br />Parking <br />Page 4 <br />
