8. Credited Service - means the total number of years <br />and fractional parts of years of service with the City as a sworn <br />Police Officer or certified Firefighter, but omitting intervening <br />years and completed months when such Police Officer or Firefight- <br />er was not employed by the City. Provided, however, no credit <br />will be given toward Credited Service for service for which the <br />Police Officer or Firefighter has received a refund of Accumulat- <br />ed Contributions. "Fractional parts of years" shall mean a <br />fraction whose numerator is the number of completed days and <br />whose denominator is 365. <br />Members whose service is interrupted by active <br />military service with the U. S. Armed Forces will receive benefit <br />credit for up to four such years of active military service <br />provided: <br />A. the Member is entitled to reemployment under <br />the provisions of the Veterans' Reemployment Rights Act, <br />B. the Member was employed by the City as a sworn <br />Police Officer or certified Firefighter immediately prior to the <br />commencement of active military service, and <br />C. the Member applies for reemployment with the <br />City as a sworn Police Officer or certified Firefighter within 90 <br />days of discharge from active military service. <br />9. Joint Annuitant - means a Spouse, dependent child, <br />or any person receiving 50~ or more of their support from the <br />Member who is designated by the Member for purposes of receiving <br />benefits in the event of the pre-retirement death of the Member. <br />10.
