<br />Community Redevelopment Agency <br />July 17. 2009 <br />Page 4 of 6 <br /> <br />Ms. Pamela Lynch, Economic Development Coordinator, presented a PowerPoint presentation to the Board <br /> <br />(a copy is on file in the Community Development Department). Ms, Lynch stated that staff is working a <br /> <br />contractor to prepare estimates for the proposed improvements. A general discussion ensued regarding the level of <br /> <br />compliance with code issues on the sites. <br /> <br />Mr. Paradise said the final issue is to consider grants to assist the business owners with <br /> <br />proposed <br /> <br />improvements. Mr. Paradise felt that the improvements would not be too expensive. Mr. Paradise felt an incentive is <br /> <br />needed to assist property owners with the proposed improvements during these difficult economic <br /> <br /> <br />that staff will bring the incentive information back to the CRA for their <br /> <br />Mr. Paradise stated that staff has expended the $5,000 to Cuhaci & Peterson. <br /> <br />Paradise requested <br /> <br />CRA authorize an additional $5,000 to proceed with a second group of architectural renderings. The Board <br /> <br />they would like to see the response to the first group of businesses before proceeding with a second <br /> <br /> <br />businesses. <br /> <br />A general discussion ensued regarding the City assisting <br /> <br />businesses in the permitting cost. <br /> <br />Paradise stated that the City is not allowed to waive permitting cost; however, the <br /> <br />could estimate <br /> <br /> <br />costs as part of the overall costs and then factor in what the CRA is willing to pay as a match. He said we can see if <br /> <br />we can assist in the permit costs via the entire cost of the construction including permitting. <br /> <br />A general discussion ensued regarding the time frame allowed to complete the improvements, Seminole <br /> <br />County grant program and redevelopment in the area. <br /> <br />In response to Ms. Lipscomb's request, Ms. lynch reviewed the fagade renderings so <br /> <br /> <br />determine if this is the look we want for the corridor. <br /> <br />Seventh Item of Business: Florida Redevelopment Association Conference <br /> <br />Distribution of Information <br />Request to pay for City Manager attendance <br /> <br />Mr. Paradise stated that the annual Florida Redevelopment Association Conference is held in <br /> <br />in Orlando. Mr. Paradise said this provides notice to the Board if they would like to attend <br /> <br />conference. Mr. <br /> <br />Paradise requested the CRA pay for the City Manager's registration.
