Mr. Torres stated that FDEP has uniform <br />criteria to look at all grant applications; however, the standards are oftentimes so <br />high to the point to where they are losing their funding due to the inability to <br />approve and release funding to municipalities and other local government agencies. <br /> <br />The Board also discussed other topics such as City-wide educational signage and <br />street sweeping schedules. <br /> <br />7. Audience Participation: There were two members in the audience (John Casselberry, <br />Ken Terrell, and Karen Kassick). <br /> <br />Mr. John Casselberry, 700 S. Lost Lake Lane, discussed the present condition of <br />the Piney Ridge pond and suggested that the Oty should bear the responsibility of <br />cleaning and maintaining the pond; however, Dr. Brock advised that there is no public <br />access available and that the City has no legal right to access the pond for <br />maintenance. <br /> <br />Mr. Casselberry also mentioned the City of Apopka's plan to treat downstream lake <br />water flowing into lake Apopka. Dr. Brock explained that the idea of this project is to <br />treat water originating from lake Apopka, diverting and treating the flow before it <br />reaches the Harris Chain of Lakes. <br /> <br />Mr. Casselberry also discussed other topics such as mechanical muck treatment for <br />removal of sediment in the City's lakes and also the possibility of installing a flood gate <br />to help treat Queens Mirror. Dr. Brock explained that it would be difficult to secure a <br />permit from the St. Johns River Water Management District to accomplish this project. <br /> <br />8. Adjournment <br />.
