Melody Lane, Casselberry, FL 32707 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />A regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board was held Tuesday, August 22, <br />2006. Pete Monaco called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. <br /> <br />Board Members Present <br />: <br />Pete Monaco, Phyllis Sheppard, Liz Torres, Marianne Kappel and Butch Spence. <br /> <br />Staff Present <br />: <br />Matt Fortini (Parks & Recreation Director), Maria Simmons (Sr. Staff Assistant), Julie Dross <br />(Special Events Coordinator) <br /> <br />Audience Present: <br /> <br />John Casselberry <br />Harold Stewart – Park Maitland Village <br />Jacqueline Motz – Lake Kathryn Village <br />Helen Linthoit – Lake Kathryn Village <br />Frayda Morris _ Northshore Courtyard Villas & Villas of Casselberry <br />David J. Leobruno– Villas of Casselberry <br />Bill Ferrara – Lake Kathryn Village Condo <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes <br />: <br />Phyllis Sheppard made a motion to accept the June 13, 2006 minutes. Liz Torres seconded the <br />motion. The motion carried unanimously 5-0. <br /> <br />Introductions <br />For the benefit of the audience present and to introduce the new member to the Board everyone <br />introduced themselves accordingly. <br /> <br />Parks & Recreation staff was also introduced by Mr. Fortini, director. <br /> <br />Item 1 - Neighborhood Grant Program <br />Mr. Fortini addressed the P & R Advisory Board explaining the process of granting funds for the <br />Neighborhood Program. The program is the same as in the previous years. Mr. Fortini <br />emphasized that this grant money is not for maintenance projects, but for projects the will <br />beautify areas that will benefit the residents in the community and residents in the City of <br />Casselberry. The grants are not to provide financial support for projects approved in the past. <br />Also, Mr. Fortini reminded the Board that the full amount does not have to be awarded for each <br />project. Meaning, that if a project request was for $1,000, and the Board felt that only $500 was <br />appropriate, then this is the amount that should be awarded. <br /> <br />Second, Mr. Fortini explained that each Board member had to be prepared to give a priority for <br />each project/grant requested. This process will facilitate the importance of each project <br />presented. <br />(over) <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
