were found and had to be refilled; unless this was allowed and restricted to none-turf and none-
landscaped parks like Lancelot.

Butch Spence asked Matt if it was possible to ask the City Attorney a couple questions; if
someone gets hurt due to a hole in the park, who is responsible? If something valuable is found
by a metal detector user, who has the right to the property found given that it was in City
property.

Mr. Fortini said that this request was not a problem and given that this is not a pressing issue it
would be better to find answers to all the questions and make the right decision with all the
Board members in agreement. Mr. Fortini will contact the City Attorney and have answers by
next meeting.

Motion delayed until next meeting after the City Attorney replies, motion made by Phyllis
Sheppard and seconded by Liz Torres. Motion carried 5-0 unanimously.

Director’s Report

1.Staff
?

The Recreation Specialist and one Maintenance Worker positions have been
eliminated from the budget, effective immediately.

2.Events
th
?

The Rotary, International Folk Festival will be held on April 14, from 4-9
PM. It has been a very smooth process unlike last year. It was part of growing
pains from being the first year, but this time the contract was in place and both
parties had an understanding.
?

The Spring Hunt event went very well; over 2,000 people were in attendance.

3.Budget
?

In anticipation to the tax cuts that the legislature might come back with the
City is preparing for budget cuts. It might bring layoff, loss of programs and
other services, but not the Special Events offered to the community.

4.CRA
?

CRA will play a bigger role in the coming year, the CRA board is very
supportive of public Art.

Phyllis Sheppard asked Mr. Fortini in reference to the lights in front of City Hall, Mr. Fortini
said that he will check in to it, this was damaged during the hurricanes of 2004.

Marianne Kappel asked if Mr. Fortini had any update in references to one of the items in last
month's agenda; North Shore Neighborhood Grant. Mr. Fortini replied that there will be an
update in the next meeting.

Adjournment:
Motion made to adjourn meeting by Phyllis Sheppard; seconded by Marianne Kappel. Meeting
adjourned at 8:19 pm.

Minutes taken and submitted by Maria Simmons, Sr. Staff Assistant.

.
Next scheduled meeting to be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. location to be announced
