RESOLUTION 08-1988 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY APPROVING THE RENUMBERING AND REORGANIZATION OF THE CITY CHARTER; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION, CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission via Ordinance 08-1239 directed the City Clerk to renumber the City Charter to logically organize all Charter amendments; and WHEREAS, the direction to renumber and reorganize the entire City Charter as stipulated in Ordinance 08-1239 was given pursuant to the general recommendation contained in the final report of the Charter Review Advisory Committee established by Resolution 07-1819; and WHEREAS, the City Charter currently utilizes consecutive numbering of each Section (I - 71) and the recommendation of the Charter Review Advisory Committee was to renumber similar to that of the Model City Charter published by the National Civic League utilizing the format of Article I. Section 1.01, Section 1.02, etc.; Article II. Section 2.01, Section 2.02 etc., which would allow for future amendments to be added to the City Charter within the appropriate article without having to constantly renumber the sections or continue to add sections in the Miscellaneous article. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The City Commission of the City of Casselberry, Florida, hereby approves the renumbering and reorganization of the City Charter, attached as "Exhibit A". SECTION II. Codification. It is the intention of the City Commission of the City of Casselberry, Florida, and it is hereby ordained that the provisions of this Resolution shall become and be made a part of the City Charter and the Code of Ordinances of the City of Casselberry, Florida; that the Sections of this Resolution and its "Exhibit A" may be renumbered or relettered to accomplish such intention. SECTION m. Conflicts. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict with any of the provisions of this Resolution are hereby repealed. SECTION IV. Severability. If any Section or portion of a Section of this Resolution proves to be invalid, unlawful, or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to invalidate or impair the validity, force, or effect of any other Section or part ofthis Resolution. SECTION V. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption.
