Sarah French called the meeting to <br />order at 1:15 pm." <br /> <br />Board MemberS Present: <br />Sarah French, Bill Clark. Beverly Tish, Robert Doyle, Patricia Howlett <br /> <br />Board Members Absent: <br />Joe Howard, JohnWarren, Paul L'Homme, Suzanne Avakian <br /> <br />Staff Present: . <br />Maria Simmons, Linda Moore, Donald Dowd <br /> <br />Audience Present: <br />Herbert Dickens <br /> <br />Aooroval of Minutes: <br />August 10, 2008 minUtes were approved as read. September 9, 2008 minutes were approved as read. <br /> <br />Audience Particioation: <br />, Sarah French provided a reintroduction of board members and city staff. Bill Clark requested a table of the reorganization <br />in the Administrative Services Department. <br /> <br />Items for DiscuSsion: <br />A) Coffee <br />The coffee program continues to be active by donations and has been successful in participation from activity groups, class <br />instructors, as wen as regular attendees. <br /> <br />B) Rec Center ActiviliesIPopulace <br />The facility continues to serve as a multi-purpose facility that allows citizens of all ages to participate in daily activities. <br /> <br />C) Store Trips <br />Donald explained the risks involved and the liability in transporting the seniors to grocery stores, errands, etc. <br />Additionally, ther.e wouldn't be available staff to provide this service. <br /> <br />D) Board MemberS Status (New/Old) <br />Applications for new candidates have been submitted in for consideration. The Board will prepare John Warren's resignation. <br /> <br />Staff ReDOrt: <br />A) Staff Update, <br />Maria Simmons has be.en work.ing with local businesses, including Bob Evans, to help promote the Center and the City. <br />Bob Evans will work out a partnership with the city in having a "Casselberry Day" at the restaurant, donating 20% of the <br />profits to the city. <br /> <br />B) Program Update <br />New programs an,d classes have been initiated including, enrichment classes and exercise programs. <br /> <br />C) Renovation 'Updaie <br />The remodeling will take place possibly into early next year, giving additional modifications to the plans. The time frame of <br />the refurbishing is projeCted at 8-10 weeks. The interior of the center will be painted in-house prior to renovations. <br /> <br />A tinted window in the pool room needs to be installed. SBC will purchase the necessary materials. The City Maintenance <br />crew will install it; <br />
