<br />Police/Fire Pension Board of Trustees <br />FebruaJ)J 19, 2008 <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Moved by Mr. Daniel Glancy to approve the Expenditure Repol.t as <br />submitted in the February 11, 2008 memo from the Finance Director'. <br />Motion was seconded by Firefighter William Jensen and approved <br />unanimously on a 4 - 0 voice vote. <br /> <br />8. Attorney's Report - Scott Christiansen <br /> <br />Mr. Christiansen outlined the provisions of a proposed draft ordinance regarding Deferred Retirement <br />Option Plan (DROP). The proposed changes to City Code Chapter 62 Personnel, Aliicle XVIII are <br />outlined as follows: <br /> <br />Sgt. William Nas objected to Section 5 (a) (2) regarding domestic relation orders. <br /> <br />Section 5 (a)(2), Line 1 will be amended as follows: <br /> <br />".... If a domestic relations order is not submitted to the board's Attornev for review prior to entry...." <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Moved by Sgt. William Nas to approve the ch'aft (DROP) Ordinance <br />submitted by the attorney with the change as stipulated in Section 62.2 <br />(a)(1)(2). Motion was seconded by Firefighter William Jenson and carried <br />on a 3 - 1 voice vote. Sgt. William Nas dissenting. <br /> <br />Moved by Sgt. William Nas to direct the Board Attorney to forward the <br />draft (DROP) Ordinance, as amended by the Board, to the City Manager for <br />consideration by the City Commission. Motion was seconded by <br />Firefighter William Jensen and carried on a 4 - 0 voice vote. <br /> <br />The Actuarial will perform a Study to confirm that the DROP Ordinance will have "no impact" for the <br />City regarding funding of the Plan. <br /> <br />The Attorney recommended that the Board request Celiificates of Insurance for fiduciary liability be <br />submitted to the Board from each of the entities hired by the Board, i.e. Legal Fil111S, Actuary, Financial <br />Money Managers, etc. <br /> <br />The Attorney recommended that the Board approve Randy Newlon be added as signatory for financial <br />approvals and payments to Salem Trust. <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Moved by William Nas to include Randy Newlon, Finance Director', as <br />signatory on financial approvals to Salem Tmst. Motion was seconded by <br />Mr. Daniel Glancy and motion carried unanimously on a 4 - 0 voice vote. <br /> <br />The Attorney repOlied that the Legislature passed an amended to the Florida Statutes regarding the <br />protection of Social Security numbers. The City Clerk will send letters to the appropriate paJiies in the <br />State Legislature in compliance with the law enacted January 1, 2008. <br />
