<br />City Commission Meeting <br />March 24, 2008 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />6. Presentations/Commendations <br /> <br />A. The Children's Cabinet of Seminole County - Presentation was given by Tara Hormel <br />representing the Children's Cabinet of Seminole County, which is an organization of service <br />providers, concerned citizens, consumers who advocates sharing one vision, mission and set of <br />values to better serve Seminole families. The power point presentation as given by Ms. Hormel is <br />attached to and made a part of these minutes. <br /> <br />B. Departmental Presentation - Chief John Pavlis gave a presentation in which he reviewed <br />the Service Level of the Police Department. The mission ofthe Casselberry Police Department is <br />to safeguard the lives and property of the citizens, to preserve the peace and provide effective <br />service at the most efficient cost using the latest technology. The department has 55 budgeted <br />police officer positions for F.Y. 2008 with a total budget of $6,298,824. (A copy of the power <br />point presentation given by Chief Pavlis is attached to and made a part of these Minutes.) <br /> <br />7. Citizens' Comments <br /> <br />This is the time set aside for persons who wish to make comment or make inquiry on any matter <br />not on the Agenda. The following individuals came forward: <br /> <br />I) Craig Tull, 420 Ranch Trail, Casselberry, Florida, criticized the decision of the <br />Commission regarding ladder racks, stating that such regulation puts aesthetics of the community <br />above the safety ofthe citizens. He also stated that the hit and miss process in which the City <br />conducts inspections could be construed as discriminatory and suggested that the Commission <br />may want to readdress the process. <br /> <br />2) John Casselberry, 700 S. Lost Lake Lane, Casselberry, Florida, addressed Fire <br />Assessment Fees, stated that the City may want to research the idea of charging fire services back <br />to the insurance companies for fires in the same fashion as ambulance service fees. <br /> <br />3) David Henson, 233 Bridle Path, Casselberry, Florida, stated that the City may want to <br />rethink the terrninology of "Fire Assessment Fees" since the majority of responses are medical. <br />The City may also want to consider charging user fees for responding to traffic accidents. <br /> <br />4) Andy Gaba, 11 I Lemon Lane, Casselberry, Florida, spoke in opposition to the <br />Commission's decision on ladder racks and asked that this item be reconsidered. <br /> <br />5) Hank Lander, 445 Surrey Run, Casselberry, Florida, announced that the 3'd Annual <br />Casselberry Rotary International Folk Festival would be held April 5,2008 from 3:00 p.m. to <br />9:00 p.m. He also suggested using volunteers to help enforce code enforcement issues in the <br />communities. <br /> <br />6) Craig and Tiffany Justice, 1690 Avalon, Casselberry, Florida, spoke in opposition to the <br />parking ordinance regarding parking of a recreational van and suggested Commission research a <br />more viable solution to the parking issue. <br />
