RESOLUTION NO. 06-1672 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, RELATING TO COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT; RECOMMENDING EXTENSION OF THE AUTHORIZED TERM OF THE CASSELBERRY COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY BY TEN YEARS TO THE YEAR 2025 CONSISTENT WITH SECTIONS 163.362, FLORIDA STATUTES; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Casselberry, Florida has adopted Resolution No. 95-889, finding the existence of certain slum and blighted areas within the boundary of the Casselberry Community Redevelopment Area ('the Area,") and determining that the rehabilitation, conservation or redevelopment. or a combination thereof, of the Area by the Community Redevelopment Agency is necessary in the best interest of the public health, safety, morals, or welfare of the residents and citizens of the City of Casselberry; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Casselberry, Florida has adopted Ordinance No. 95-851, creating a Community Redevelopment Agency (the 'CRA") to carry out and effectuate the purposes of community redevelopment within the boundaries of the Area; and WHEREAS, the Seminole County Board of County Commissioners has, by Resolution No. 95-R- 255, delegated to the City the right and authorization to exercise powers as described and provided in Chapter 163, Part III, Florida Statutes, such powers to include the power to create and establish a Community Redevelopment Agency; and WHEREAS, the Seminole County Board of County Commissioners has, by Resolution No. 2002- 33, extended the term of the Casselberry CRA from 15 to 20 years (to the year 2015); and WHEREAS, the Casselberry Community Redevelopment Agency adopted a Redevelopment Plan and has been working diligently toward the goal of bringing the adopted Redevelopment Plan to reality; and WHEREAS, the Community Redevelopment Agency wants to continue working toward the stimulation of economic development and redevelopment projects in Casselberry's Community Redevelopment district; and WHEREAS, the City of Casselberry, in cooperation with the Community Redevelopment Agency, recently adopted "Revitalizing Casselberry," a comprehensive plan for the development of a City Center and Civic Center; and WHEREAS, a substantial portion of the CRA's revenues through 2015 will be committed to helping pay for a new Civic Center, pursuant to "Revitalizing Casselberry," and WHEREAS, other projects that the CRA wants to fund include, but are not limited to, small business incentives, properly assembly, streetscaping, pedestrianlbicycling improvements, public art and Resolution 06-1672 Page 1 of2
